this bitchasses better hurry it up. ive been waiting for this mod since like 2006
what branch of the engine is the game using? last i heard it was ob, but i was thinking that since this is basically a mod that is hl1 with uber graphics- why not change to portal 2 or alien swarm?
Well, it's rather impossible to put it on the engine in Portal 2 since it's NOT RELEASED YET.
As for the Alien Swarm engine, do you REALLY want to keep delaying this?
but what if a transfer to the alienswarm engine was seamless ?
Only if it's seamless as in:
Open Engine Dropdown Box
Choose Alien Swarm
Done

thats sort of what i meant, only copying and pasting a lot of stuff.
also- does some of this stuff go into gmod?
It's not that easy. I'm not a modder or anything, so I may be horribly mistaken, but I believe that when changing engine versions sometimes there's stuff that breaks, especially in maps, so they'd have to go back through and check every single map and model and such to make sure it still worked.
Then they could resume working on it. Honestly, the OB engine is good enough.
Also, it's Source content, so it can be added to GMOD.

maps just need to be recompiled, i have seen ep1 maps in l4d
The change is going to break everything
There's no point, there's nothing that Alien Swarm brings that would greatly enhance or benefit the mod, just a slightly better particle system and the ability for more dynamic lights. It seems rather pointless to me.
It's November 15th. In about 45 days, it'll be 2011.
It'll be interesting to see if it is released or not.
Somehow, I doubt it. As much as I truly want to believe this'll be out this year, I just don't think it will be.

And tears will be shed.
The visual quality is great, but where is the spit-shine? With so many metallic surfaces around, they don't have any cubemaps (specular) on them.
Hah, this game was "More or less complete" 3 months ago.
Should I wait for this to come out or just buy Half Life: Source?
K let me rephrase that. I have never played Half Life 1 so I guess I'm asking which version should I get. Is the wait for BM:S worth it or should I just splurge now and get Half Life: Source?
Whatever you do, don't buy Half-Life: Source. If anything, buy the original Half-Life and install the Half-Life High Definition Pack.
Will the original Half Life and the expansions work on Vista?
Ofcourse.
Well thank you kind facepuncher.

Ooooooo, if there is a chance it could be out by the years end, that means that the mod is most definitely "More or less complete" :unsmith:

You are most welcome!
"It was mean to be a combination of whatever you wanted it to be haha. If you saw a release date in it.. well there may be some truth there. If you saw me telling people to simply go away until the end of 2010, well there may have been some truth there too haha. It wasn't supposed to be some form of coded message or cryptic secret awaiting the combined might of the Black Mesa fanbase to unlock. It was a spontaneous shot across the bow that went much further then I expected it to go.
However, lest you despair, let me just say this. There will be a break in silence, of some form, from us at the end of 2010/very early 2011. Will it be a mod release? Another trailer? A media release? A Twitter update? A new release date? Raminator changing his avatar? Or just an announcement saying "oh hai believe it or not we're still alive"? I can't say. But an end of 2010 update.. you can be sure will happen."
Looks like it might be a 2011 release

Damn them! I don't even know how long I have been waiting for this anymore.
Wow, last year when they told us they weren't going to get it released by 2010, I was thinking "Well 2011 is miles off, I just know they'll get it released way before then!" But look at how little's left of 2010.
Jesus fuck, time flies.
[editline]18th November 2010[/editline]
My bet is 4 months.
Yes, on New Years Eve.
Oh man... Rated myself optimistic for that one.
I guess they will make another teaser video.
And then:
"Yay it is 2011 new years eve! They will finally release it!"
Then another teaser trailer.
