It's not the lighting only. It's the source engine being so cartoony making the models etc look kinda silly. That's why they edited the pictures i tell ya.Every mod I play on source it feels like half-life 2 no matter how many new models or enemies are there.
Wow, i barely care until its out for download.
I'm not even going to start.
But you're an 05'er so you are supercool, why you so mad?

I don't care what people say, it still looks good to me. It's unfinished and it IS a mod on the Source engine, it's not like it's going to be Crysis 2.
Hope they include the microwave incident, that shit's canon. Noticed they included cuffs on the vortigaunts, so it isn't just a copypasted model, attention to detail is lovely.
Why did I expect it look better

Yeah and the Vorts seem less shiny. Then again it might just be the lighting.
Lacks atmospheric lighting.

The screenshots look like they are taken with dxlevel 80

No the cuffs are there already, they didn't add them, looks like the touched up the texture though.
They have the Microwave, but they don't have Magnusson there.
Well, I hope he had a shit PC. :buddy:
also the jpeg quality fucks up, too.

Yeah the picture quality is horrible.
He probably had a shitty PC.Black mesa won't be a mod which people will like because they feel sad about it being bad after 6 years of development,it's gonna be a great mod.I just hope that the pics that I saw at their website weren't 100% photoshop.
Well, I hope I will be able to run it on highest with my old 2ghz Pentium 4.
Aijajaijajai!!
Haha. I remember everyone going crazy when an early alpha of this mod was leaked all the way back in 2006.
Shit's been in development for goddamn forever. Do you know when they started this mod?
2003. They started it as a project to re-make Half-Life on the E3 leak of the Source Engine.
That doesn't add up, the two teams that were merged into the Black Mesa team were formed in October and September, 2004.

Source, please.
It was started in 2004 after the devs learned that HL:S isn't a remake of HL1, but just a port on the Source engine.
it's still the best HL2 mod made yet
Have you played it? How do you know? Can you testify that the community will like it?
Don't talk crap. We don't know how good it is, all that's happened is loads of people have been taken in by hype and are now disappointed by some generic screenshots.
Also, I remember reading in an interview somewhere that the mod was started in 2003, not 2004.

Should be Magnusson sitting there.

Magnusson wasn't in the room at the time.
Yes, that's what Half-Life: Source should have looked, I know right

What about NMRIH?
10'ers knows nothing about quality.
This mod looks fuckawesome

Quit being so damn judgmental on someone's join date.
If you want to see moronic '10ers go through the Portal 2 Collab thread.

what?
ITT: everyone goes boo hoo the game doesn't look like crysis in a game made by modders
shut the hell up, you make a better mod then if you're so concerned
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/1sYBqh.jpg[/img_thumb]
what?
The guy taking the pictures was messing around, thats him holding the coffee cup most likely.
This'll be fine. Stop bitching people, the fact it looks so much like Half-Life itself shows good progress. They managed to make the original Half-Life actually look like it's source worthy, unlike Half-Life: Source.
ITT: Nitpicky FPers can't appreciate 5 years of hard work.

No one can be sure until they've played the game.
And NH2 is a very good contender.
Here is a post from Project Lead nate on the media leak
While I think Atomic meant well, and while we think their written article is fine, we're not happy that they basically held down F5 for their entire play session, and with the giddiness and sloppiness of a 12 year old kid, dumped 100+ screenshots on the internet.
Heck, they even took a screenshot of the blank Xen map, as clear a signal we could possibly send that "HAY, WE DON'T WANT YOU KNOWING WHAT XEN LOOKS LIKE, SO WE MADE IT ALL BLACK SO YOU WOULDN'T TAKE SCREENSHOTS MMK?" I mean seriously! The rest of them, except for like 10, are just plain badly taken.
So this is a miscommunication by several parties, but it's out there now. So why are we blocking it here? Cause you've seen the users in this thread that don't WANT to be spoiled by having the first 20 minutes of the game stitched together with screenshots.
For everyone else, it doesn't take too much searching to find them, so by all means feel free to look.
Half-Life has been out for about 13 years and they're worried about a few screenshots spoiling the mod?
Those screenshots may or may not be badly taken but they were taken by a person as they played through the game and represent what the actual visual quality of the mapping is. They're not cherrypicked to try and hype BMS, they are a fair and unbiased view of the mod.

You realize there are people out there that are graphics whores and have not played the first HL1 right? So they're wating for BMS, also because its free.
Also these screens were taken on a shite computer apparently.
