1. Xen was blacked out on purpose so incase of a leak (like this one), Xen won't be spoiled.
2. The leak is from an earlier build, and is not the latest version that's being worked on. So it probably looks a lot better right now.

Some of the new textures look a bit too...clean, I'd say, but god damn, that HUD is amazing. I love the fake nixie tube look they have going.

Well it's an underground scientific facility, i think they have to keep the place clean and tidy.

Some of the textures look like they added a detail map and a color but no actual texture, if that makes sense. There's "bumps" to represent physical texture, and basic color, but no real detail beyond that. I'll see if I can get some example pictures.

This is the most glaring example I can find, albeit in an unfinished area. I hope that they do something to the texture of that panel, because it simply doesn't match the slight grime in the rest of the room.

I'd also like to add that other than those few textures, I'm loving the mod so far.

We've always kept the game's development close to our chests in the interests of ensuring the bulk of a game is still a surprise even for those who have already played Half-Life. To have screenshots of our unfinished work splashed around the internet with careless abandon flies in the face of everything we've ever tried to do, particularly when we're looking at what amounts to a screenshot every few feet. You could stitch them together and make a movie.

You can argue that this might help placate any naysayers or that any publicity is good publicity, but it's not when it's unwanted. We don't care what anyone thinks, and we don't want anyone looking over our shoulders. We just want to finish the damn game and get on with our lives, and this hasn't helped. A lot of us on the team feel personally offended by this breach of confidence, and morale's at an all-time low.

But, you know, this is pretty mild in comparison to some of the other stuff we've dealt with in the past. Sure, we're all really pissed off right about now, but we've still got a mod to finish. Even if you've already seen half of it. [/quote]

To those complaining, this is leaked material, that is not finished nor polished, and was not ready to be shown publicly yet. Stop judging the game by unfinished and unpolished work from a leak.
