Antichrist is not the only one gathering life arms experience. never thought I'd ever shoot a gun in my paranoid anti-firearms country but here I am
Nice one. Good groupings?
;34697402']Nice one. Good groupings?
went surprisingly well for my first .357. Update time, continued work on our deer friend. Did something fancy for my portfolio, since I went to a recruiting event a few weeks back. Met a game studio in my hometown, they seemed interested. gonna drop by this week, hopefully abandoning my shit job, doing something awesome instead. I am super excited about this. my life might go from frustrated office guy to 3d-artist, satisfied with his occupation. Anyway, here is the stuff. I hate this new year stuff, you can tell. Without the head, it kind of looks like a guy, on his back, presenting himself.
I'm going the valve-route of mindfuckery creature design. Single testicle on crab legs, I say.
I'm going the valve-route of mindfuckery creature design. Single testicle on crab legs, I say.
Planning a Gonarch-y/completely unsual mutant? Eh, it wouldn't fit in well. Most mutants of STALKER are actually just spliced or modified current day living beigns that had their evolution process speeded up to extreme levels while exposed to the extremely hostile nature of The Zone. Hence why there's a lot of human-like and common animal-like mutants roaming The Zone.

I was just commenting on how the monster's design plays with people's minds, making them see gay shit. Just reminded me of the 'mindfuckery in valve-games' thread and how the valve-aliens actually are mashups of gross bodyparts and rape-phobia So rest assured, no five-legged cock monster or some retarded shit like that.
This is one of those things I don't get. Why would you try to remake a game in another game when you can just play the damn original game
This is one of those things I don't get. Why would you try to remake a game in another game when you can just play the damn original game
It's a mod. You should probably just deal with it.
It's a mod. Why should all Stalker inspired mods be done in X-ray? If it's not intended to be an open world game I don't see the problem.

It's more likely to be a good little story based in a STALKER-like world. Also, it's a good learning experience for them.
selby and etcetra got a point. I shall now continue with army.
learning experience personal satisfaction productivity
this. Scout1, ever considered that the point of modding might by any chance not entirely be to spew out awesome free games for you to play?
learning experience personal satisfaction productivity
You get to learn how to do replicate someone else's work instead of thinking for yourself You get to feel less smug than if you had done something new You get to be less productive than if you just used the original engine made for this exact purpose [editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
this.
no apparently it's recreating games in other games so people don't have to buy the former
I disagree. It's creating a Stalker mod for Source so that he can craft a Stalker universe story without fucking around with the notoriously finicky X-Ray engine. It's in no way meant to replace the Stalker series, and most of the people who play it will likely have already bought and played Stalker games. Those who haven't will be more likely to buy them. the dev team increase their skills, a new stalker experience is created, more people find out about stalker it's win-win-win.

What have they done, personally, to shame your family? It's a goddamn fan mod, not World War 3. Calm the hell down.

Everything we did so far is custom content. Made by me. In my free time, whilst working in a day job and generally having shit to do. I do this because I enjoy creating stuff and hope to give the community something nice to enjoy, whilst gaining ecperience at what I do. Gee, I don't exactly expect a blowjob, hell, I'm thankfull for criticism but you know, giving us shit for what we do is, frankly a huge dick move. We are not charging you for anything, we are not agressively promoting anything, we don't put out uninspired 5-minute reskins. We are only using an existing scenario. A established universe. We don't even have any gameplay for you to judge the similarities by. What do you even want, us to scrap it because you prematurely conclude you might not like the end product? So frankly, go take your flimsy, forejudged and unappreciating opinion and shove it up your ass.

Not "Yes here are valid reasons why you would craft a stalker experience on source
", but "I don't like what you're saying", which is exactly what you are accusing me of? You've recreated the HUD and made an AK that looks, oh, exactly like the AK in stalker! Fantastic. Had you started on the x-ray engine- Oh right, all that would already have been done. The only thing that appears to have been done at all was some renders and a minor circlejerk about having access to guns. Since october. At this rate, one could expect you to have something playable by 2014. By that time stalker 2 will be out. Then will it not be "uninspired", given all the new content coming? This is hardly a step above ideas guy & co. Because right now it's "Stalker on source with a reindeer mutant"

Scout1, if we had your way, we'd still be stuck with Atari games. "WHAT? YOU WANT A GAME WHERE PIXELS ALSO MOVE VERTICALLY? GO PLAY SPACE INVADERS AND STOP RIPPING OFF OTHER PEOPLE!"
just move on. also, this may be of interest. http://www.keiththompsonart.com/pages/moose.html
I am going to assume that the second pair of legs/mouth was an unborn moose that had instead broke out of it's mother to take part as a half-parasitic entity.
Accelerated/enhanced Polymelia and/or parasitic siamese twins due to radiation are viable excuses [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a3/Deformed_steer_%281%29.JPG/800px-Deformed_steer_%281%29.JPG[/t]
Ew.

[editline]16th February 2012[/editline] Btw this sort of stuff tends to land people jobs in the games industry. How that is in any way useless is beyond me.

When the OP or his friend gets a game in the job industry call me, I'll be glad to congratulate them on their stroke of luck
You're coming across as a dick. [editline]16th February 2012[/editline] Like, a gigantic, provocative dick.
