Unreal lives up to its name, it looks UNREAL, its to damn glossy while Crysis goes for the realistic approach type graphics, and just wait till the Cryengine 3 comes out, it will rape Unreal.
Again, Cryengine doesn't 'give better graphics but isn't optimized', you're thinking of Crysis.
Don't judge an entire engine based on the art direction and execution of 2 games built for different platforms, that's retarded.
But if there's only 2 games actually using that engine you don't have much choice do you?
I can think of Crysis and Far Cry.

Doesn't CryEngine3 have worse graphics than CryEngine 2 cause it's made for consoles?

Far Cry uses cryengine 1
And no, CE3 has worse graphics only on consoles, but still manages to look better than UE

Well, can you guess why so few games use the Cryengine? Most games these days are coming both to consoles and PC. Cryengine2 is far too good to be used on consoles games, because today's consoles simply aren't powerful enough for Cryengine2. The devs chooses engines like Unreal3 because they can port it over to consoles as well.
Oh, and Far Cry uses Cryengine1
Cryengine3 will probably have a separate version for the consoles, while the PC version will be completely different.

You're just saying Cryengine is a piece of shit because your computer can't handle it.
I find it to be rather superior to UE3, in both graphics and physics, which is pretty much all that matters in a game engine ...
... UE3 doesn't even compare. Where UE3 looks like everything is drenched in oil and wrapped in plastic (thanks to a what is, in my honest opinion, a completely unnecessary overload of normal maps), CryEngine's ability to handle high resolution textures, shaders, and complex geometry at the same time makes it a clear winner
Better physics in Crysis? No chance. Unreal 3's simulation is PhysX based and a lot more accurate. UE3 also has cloth and liquid simulation, which CE2 does not have an equivalent of at all.
Your argument about things looking shiny or plastic are moot; that's all down to the artists and as it happens, CE2 and UE3 actually use an almost identical lighting model. A lot of UE3 games however have adopted a hyperrealistic art style that demands an exageration of surface relief (normal maps) and the specular component of that model
Finally, taking UT3, and Crysis as the comparison, UE3 actually has significantly more complex scenes in terms of world geometry, and some character models exceed 20,000 polygons. In general UT3 uses higher resolution textures than Crysis, but it also makes better use of them.
CryEngine has it's advantages - but those aren't them ;)
UE is used for fucking everything, so it must be pretty good.

Even CE1 had cloth simulation and that was 2004.

What UE3 game had fluid simulation?

At the same time cloth and liquid simulation are borderline useless, considering they usually require dedicated hardware to run, unless you sacrifice a great deal of performance. Not to mention it was barely used for anything, except as a silly gimmick for a small UT3 mappack that no one actually plays regularly. Meanwhile CryEngine is vastly superior when it comes to rigid body, considering the sheer scale at which it is used, with widespread building and foliage destructibility, as well as plants which actually interact and collide with objects and with the wind.
The things looking shiny and plastic aren't moot, everything in UE3 based games looks like it's extremely shiny because of the way the engine renders normal maps, that's not an artists decision.
As for UT3 having more complex scenes, I'd like a source on that. Also the Crysis nano suit supposedly has 67,000 polygons at the maximum detail level, so 20,000 for a character doesn't seem especially impressive.
UE3, much more scalable.
Looks fantastic while performing well on a much wider range of PCs.

It does look worse yes, but only on the console, the PC user will get a better view.
and just wait till the Unrealengine 4 comes out, it will rape CryEngine.
I have yet to see a single screenshot or demo from that engine, until then it does not exists for me.
UE is used for fucking everything, so it must be pretty good.
Windows is used for everything, is it better than linux? UE is just more used due to its simple modding, the Cryengine is better on most of the points except for easy modding.

Actually CryEngine is one of the most moddable and powerful engines around, people just don't use it because it's lack of cross platform support and reputation for being resource intensive scare developers away.
Mirrors edge uses an entirely different lighting system
So, are you saying that default lighting system is sepia?
So, are you saying that default lighting system is sepia?
Not necessarily, just saying mirrors edge lighting cant really be compared to other UE3 games
What about Rise of Argonauts? It didn't seem to be sepia'ish
