You should save the Diamond for tools as they are used more frequently

I mean, all diamond pickaxes do is make mining faster, while a diamond sword can save your life.

I'm loving my current level just now too. Got a little wooden/stone-reinforced hut at the edge of the map, then under it a whole network of mine shafts, I'm hoping to find more diamond but so far I've only found 2 pieces. How do you repair weapons etc? (if you can)

I actually stick to using my iron pickaxe unless I'm mining ore, in which case I whip out the diamond real quick. Cuts down on its use, since an iron pickaxe blows through regular stone pretty fast anyways.

I've got it just great right now, a great fort, with great outside protection and pits full of lava for unwelcome visitors, and jesus christ, the possibly fucking biggest network of caves I've ever seen in my entire life full of iron/coal/gold ores as far as the eye can reach. It's also filled with mushrooms and sadly enemies. The only problem is that there are no diamond ores, since I generated the map in creative mode at first then imported it to Indev.

It's a trick, and will probably only have any good use in Survival Multi-player when it comes out.
