You can skip that section by throwing a grenade over the gate so it dislodged the rope (Or whatever it was) holding the gate shut. Quite a hard shot to make though.

You can do that with a single pistol bullet; via the right angle, and some help from suit zoom, you can pop a round in the explosive barrel that was right next to the thing that rams the gates open, although you skip getting the revolver in that part by doing so I believe.

I’m not sure if this counts, but in Sandtraps, or I forgot but the place had a lighthouse, if you completely ignore all the rebels and everything and rush to the top of the lighthouse, your eyes will be treated to a dropship spawning Combine out of nowhere, as usual.

Tried climbing the fence next to the building where Alyx fixes the computer and contacts White Forest for the whole time so I could skip the whole scene. Couldn't do it...no idea how high the invisible wall goes either.

Pushed a crate down the stairs to climb back up on. There were to MP's waiting for me at the top. Bastards.

The very first time I played that, not knowing that was where you met Alyx, spawned a crowbar and killed the CPs. Cue being stuck because I messed the scene up.

A friend and I did a bunch of these glitch things in Portal 2. Most involve portal boosting (shooting a portal as you exit a portal to give yourself a huge speed boost; might have been fixed in a patch a while back, I don't remember)
