If it looks fun just buy it, if it doesnt, dont. The community isn't ungodly elitist but you will find it hard at times to enjoy the game casually.
Buy it. It's a good game. It takes a while to learn the ropes. I started playing this game again the other day after a year of not playing and I'm having to learn everything again.
It feels different than Battlefield.
At the video store someone left this game in the case on the shelf, was tempted to take.

This game is pretty cool but some of the maps are polarised to one faction like the one where you have to hack a gate to get to antartica; GDF will get all the way to the gate then they will not hack it.
I did played this game a bit. Although I preferred Wolfenstein ET, mainly because there were no local severs near me in ET:QW
Finally found my copy from my pile of game cases, still am loving it.
Decent game.
Pretty challenging though and unfortunately the player base is really fucking elitist and moronic.
Probably because they're clinging to a dying game and their skills are becoming obsolete, there were only about 100 servers left and only about 20 of them had any players when I last checked.
So no fanmade map which was in development did get finished?
