Its possible to make fun vehicles in source the empires mod jeep is infinitely better that the HL2 one and the passengers can shoot out of it and you can do the same riding shotgun on tanks and APCS
Eternal silence have freaking spaceships that handle like free-space 2
how can valve not get it right hell just ask the empires guys for their code because those ones are way more fun also destructible.
GTA san andreas has a fun system for vehicles besides the flip = explosion part i have to say i like every single vehicle in that game except the jumbo jet i cant see that kind of system being so far beyond source
Vehicle sucks in m multiplayer
Not in Synergy. You have to ask then other players vote if you can get a vehicle.
Also you can get vans and shit so you can fit about 5 people in one vehicle.

Lag happens in synergy.
I have synergy.
as per preevious post, lag has attitude when it comes to vehicles.
My ping hovers around 100 on even the closest servers, and its not uncommon to see crowds of players with cars, on hl2 COOP mode, crashing into water or off large bridges or playing chicken with the razortrain and destroying their vehicles from the lag.
Or, shouting incoherently into the mic in their native language (or even mine, not that I can understand them anyway), abandoning the car, and ragequitting.
Seriously, why couldn't someone make a CLIENTSIDE vehicle thing for multiplayer, or a trackmania-esque version, so lag is not a problem as much?
Heck, is that even POSSIBLE with source?
Eh. I suppose we'll get our wish granted, WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER.
I would like to drive a truck, to be honest.
Or escort a tank.
I've not seen high or low of anything military related.
You were originally to steal a Combine APC at one point, but the playtesters complained that the APC was too slow and it was cut.
Fuckin' Playtesters :argh:
Vehicles need to be destructible. Everything from body to engine.
"Fuck the thing, We're walking to White Forest."
The best vehicle physics all around is a tiebreaker between Just cause 2 and GTA IV
GTA4 wins it for damage, Dirt 2 for realism. Just cause 2's vehicles are far from realistic.
Well, look at it this way. When you have the airboat, you have no easy means of flipping it should it become capsized. Valve have put in a relatively believable way of making the airboat relatively hard to flip over, so it looks good unless you're really trying to flip it. It isn't impossible to flip it over, but it is pretty hard. And it would be very annoying to have to restart from the last save on account of being unable to use it.
I hate the car steering in source games.
They feel way to unresponsive and heavy.
It's the way they're coded. Look at some gameplay videos for mario kart source (www.mariokartsource.com). Doesn't look like the handling is the same as the buggy.
They went through several stages, and playtesters (for some strange reason) didn't think it was fun to have their car flip if they ran over an ant.
If you want 'realism', the bane of the video games industry in my opinion, go crash a car in the real world.
Except thats why we have games, so we can do the things we could never do in real life without getting killed or arrested.

Also synergy + jalopy + physics bridge = lots of rage.
Halo had some really fucking good vehicle physics.

Why the hell do people keep saying this?
Maybe people want to experience realism without the consequences of real life?
The vehicles need better suspension and less annoying motor sounds.
