oh my lord, i got disconnected for 5 seconds and didn't lose any save game progress, worst game ever.
broken [ˈbrəʊkən] adj - imperfect or incomplete; fragmentary It doesn't matter how little it affected you, the inescapable fact is that it still went down - which it shouldn't do. The fact that it has shown that it is perfectly capable of going down at all means that it is capable of doing something worse in the future, if not for you then for for someone else. Personally I still prefer to buy a game that won't disconnect me at all. Your problem is that you are being narrow-minded and not looking at the wider picture. It's not about one single incident - it's about the whole shitty principle of the DRM that doesn't even work (and you even proved that).
Hah, another game I won't buy. Voting with my wallet. Silent Hunter 5 sounded good until I heard it had the DRM from which on I decided not to buy it at all.
Why, if my ISP is feeding me 5 mb/s, should the DRM suddenly quit whilst my internet flow is perfectly level?
broken [ˈbrəʊkən] adj - imperfect or incomplete; fragmentary

I can look in a dictionary, too! I thought I was the only one!
That's nice. Congratulations, do you want a medal? Yes - I can be overtly sarcastic too.
Your connection goes down sometimes (probably), it shouldn't do that! All ISPs suck!
There are two problems with what you have said there: 1. Being a university student I move between two places - my parents house and my university accommodation. The connection at home is fine and as such I have no qualms with it. The one at my student accommodation frequently drops out and as such I hate it. See where this is going? 2. You say that all ISP's suck because, in your example, one connection is shit. Well, apparently you have a very poor grasp of what exactly we are talking about here because we are not saying that all DRM's are shit - just this one. Go re-read the thread and then get back to me.
Oh no, I tripped and fell once, that means I will probably fall off a building soon!
Well done. 10/10 for missing the point - couldn't have done it better myself. We give publishers/developers our money in the faith that they will provide us with a product that works. It's the same with any product/service that is paid for by a customer. Would you accept a piece of bread that had a bit of mould on it, regardless of how small it was? I seriously doubt it. You might have lax enough standards that you are prepared to accept something that doesn't work, but the rest of use don't.
I proved that how? If anything, I proved that it DOES work. Nothing is perfect. Not your connection, not mine. Not Steam, not Ubisoft's DRM.
I'm confused by your logic. To be fair I got confused by it several pages back but this takes the biscuit. Allow me to quote what you said: "oh my lord, i got disconnected for 5 seconds and didn't lose any save game progress, worst game ever." Length is irrelevant - you got disconnected. How on Earth does that prove that it works? Please, I would love to know. So, to summarise, this apparently perfect DRM did disconnect you (by your own admission, as I have shown) which, as a paying customer, is not something I do not want.
For those of you who are bitching about DRM, would you rather deal with some annoying DRM or a shitty console port? Piracy is hurting the PC developers, look at World of Goo, no drm and a nice long demo and 90% of the copies are pirated. Yes, I know a copy pirated doesn't always = a sale if it wasn't but if people had no way to pirate games don't you think more people would buy them? I don't really like DRM ether but it is a necessary evil. If Ubisofts DRM somehow remains uncracked maybe they will improve it to be less restrictive and annoying, AKA more steam like. The reason I dis like DRM like Securerom is because it does NOTHING to stop pirates, this does.

What you are saying is something like: "would you rather accept that people have HIV or exterminate everyone who has it?" - in other words; either put up with it or accept a worse alternative. Not that it really makes all that difference to me at the end of the day. As a PC person, I won't play a console version of RUSE either. So either the DRM gets removed or I just won't buy it.
