Okay, here's my base. 75 percent of it was hand mined (like the fences and hill structure) but the rest, I used LOLeditor with. Which I think was the water, adminium (a bitch to place) and the mine tracks. Just thought I'd be honest with you all.

Thanks, I was intending that sort of look. I didn't want to make the walls out of a hard material, but tall enough so none of the mobs can get in. I'm still working on some of the underground areas, just in case. And with the minecart mania mod Juraj showed me, I'll be able to make a tram to a future outpost.

I once tried it before, but I couldn't find a good place to stop it. I ended up making it go across three continents, and an ocean, but the save corrupted afterwards.
I started a new save today on Normal difficulty, built a small little house in the desert surrounded by cactii, started a mine under my house which eventually led me to 14 diamonds, made 3 diamond picks, 1 diamond axe and 1 diamond shovel. As I came back up to my little house I decided to build a tower with the surplus cobblestone, and this is what happens (at night):

Actually, now that I look at it, I can see the 'After' one tiling a lot more noticeably, specifically diagonally from Bottom Right to Top Left, if you cannot see it (Like the sand on the right).

Guys, how long does it take for your stuff to despawn when you die? I never seem to be able to retrieve all my crap, when I die... Just lost a diamond pick axe, because I turned around and a creeper was standing right behind me... :(

By the way, the area in the middle with all the fire is where I danced around for a few minutes while Ghasts shot at me. You can see some cobblestone where I surfaced from a tunnel.
