Is there any way to clear trees/leaves faster than knocking them out one by one, but without lighting an entire forest on fire? I want to clear a courtyard area of ~30 trees, without destroying the surrounding areas, but I don't think I have the patience to do it one block of leaves at a time. How far is fire capable of jumping between blocks of leaves/wood?

Just keep an infinite on hand, TNT is surprisingly handy.
