Actually it would still be an actual furnace. It's similar to attempting to burn a gear with a piece of redstone.

It's either that or make a new crafting recipe of a furnace with redstone in the middle which means new textures yadayadayada. I want to reduce the stress on texture pack creators as much as possible.
