Hey, I bought this game today and I'm trying it. I've some questions about the game, can I regenerate life? Can I save items or if I die I lose everything? How do you build those huge houses, I mean, if you die, don't you respawn in the first respawn and you've to walk again all the way? Can you save your respawn point? Where do I find light, glasses, etc, so far I only found stone, wood and sand, also, it's boring to wait all the night buried in the terrain not being able to do anything...
Hope I'm not a pain in the neck for you guys
If you're on peaceful, it will regenerate automatically, if not, kill pigs for their meat, cook it and eat it.
Your items will get saved, but when you die you will lose them. Your respawn point stays the same at all times, you can craft all other blocks. (Glass = Sand) (Lightstone = Lightstone Dust) Just keep searching, and crafting. If it's night, you should go dig in the ground, find stuff underground.
The osx client is so full of graphical bugs, And somehow at night everything is super dark compared to the pc version.
[editline]20th November 2010[/editline]
And does anyone know how to make print-screens in osx?
It doesn't seem to work.

Yay! Harvesting clouds or something... then the HOLY CREEPER comes and destroys everything :3:
I often wish that water and lava's vertices moved pseudo-randomly in the shape of waves (like in LoZ: Wind Waker). It would cost a significant amount of memory in large oceans, but it would break up the monotony and make the water look incredibly realistic.

I actually WANT night to be much darker. :sigh:
Isn't there any addon for it?

And just add in an option to disable it, Everyone is happy.

It's already nearly impossible to see during the night as it is..

You can implement it in a vertex shader with a time variable, and a little trig.

And maybe when you are on a boat, you can stay still and let the waves carry you, that would be cool
And maybe when you are on a boat, you can stay still and let the waves carry you, that would be cool
Then promptly sing about how you are on a boat and how you never thought youd be on one.

1. Yes, with food or in peaceful mode
2. No, you lose everything however you can recover it before it disappears (in 5 minutes)
3. You either have to walk all that way or build your house at/near your spawn point.
4. No
5. Check the Minecraft wiki's crafting page.
6. Craft/smelt stuff at night.
It's already nearly impossible to see during the night
so no i dont want it darker

Well, life regenerates on peaceful difficulty. But if you want enemy mobs (monsters), then you have to play on Easy or higher.
You can restore some HP by eating. Get porks by killing pigs, cooked porks by smelting them in a furance (heals more), fish, bread and so on.
When you die, you respawn on your default, not-movable spawn point. (Well technically you can move it through a map editor) You also drop all the items in your inventory at death. They will stay at the point where you died for about 5 minutes, so if you want your stuff back, you will have to hurry.
Houses, well, the best thing to do is hide at night, build at day. Keep in mind that holding SHIFT will prevent you from falling off edges.
For light, use torches; you just have to craft wooden sticks and coal. Check out wiki for all the recipes. Also useful is lightstone, but that's only found in hell.
Glass is made by smelting sand in a furnance. Again, rest of the recipes are on wiki.

You can use the lighter to make a temporary light so you can see.. until it breaks :smith:
:wtc: I dug a 10x10 to bedrock with no diamonds and opened up minecraft xray in diamonds mode.
Diamonds everywhere but my hole. :arghfist::saddowns:

Sorry but i dont see shit.
I found the biggest cave system I've ever found in my time of playing Minecraft. And its located about 5 blocks under my house.
Also, having problems seeing at night?
Play fullscreen.
Sorry but i dont see shit.
Come on, really? Don't you see a cow, and lots of flat grass?
I see it perfectly.

There is no creeper.
Maybe you should get glasses.

Geez, you can either increase the brightness on your computer, or stand up and look on it from there. There's something there.
What? I'm just saying I want it darker, not brighter.

I was joking, i can see the cow and the flat grass. :P
My reed farm, when fully farmed, leaving the bottom pieces for it to grow more gives me 128 pieces
I should really have expected it but yay! found diamonds in the hollowing out of the sphere! (yes it does reach all the way down to bedrock)
