Finally found enough lava to make a nether portal. I want to make it all overly fancy and shit, but am trying to think how. Should I make a small island and devote it to the portal, dig a deep cave, make a temple? What did you guys do, or did you just put it in front of your house like a giant lawn ornament?

Temple on an island, with the portal in a cave underneath it. Outside it you could have fake portals (made out of smoothstone) as giant lawn ornaments.

Oh, and what is the strongest material in the game? Obsidian? And what is the second strongest?
So is it safe to use powered minecarts in SMP? I don't really understand what Notch said about it in the last update that involved them.

Makes the grass better.
Whenever two grass blocks that have a vertical difference of one block touch the grass texture will run down the side to create a seamless grass hill instead of having the usual brown side, resulting in better looking hills

Chests break really easily, stairs break fairly easily and mob spawners also break easily.
Furnace breaks a lot harder than the previously mentioned.

I've got just the right island in mind. Its good, seeing how I already somewhat colonized it. All it will take is a few...modifications.
