I quite liked the beginnings of Half-life 1 and Blue Shift when everything was normal (everything malfunctioning, but relatively okay). I sort of hoped Valve would make a game set in Black Mesa in which you just worked as an employee; security guard, scientist, janitor, whatever. Sure, it wouldn't be as exiting as a normal game, but I'm sure Valve could pull it off.
Opposing Force has some pretty cool areas too, like when you have to move down the subway tunnels and take over a small Black Op base inorder to proceed through a security door.

No. It takes place in Bulgaria, there are a lot of Bulgarian words seen in HL2 and episodes.
Also C17 looks very much like Sofia (The capital of Bulgaria)

I like the start of episode one when you're right next to the citadel. It really gives you an idea of how hugely massive it is.
