• After How Many Hours of Playing Do You Feel Satisfied with a Game?

It depends, FPS tend to drag on if they go too long, RPGs can go a lot longer and still be fun, while RTSes are a mixed bag, some of them I can play forever, others only the campaign interests me (Starcraft and Redalert 2, respectively, for example)
For me, if it's able to entertain me until the end of the game, it's worth $50. Sadly, a lot of games don't do that - I tend to quit games when they stop being fun. Mirror's Edge? About 5 hours in. Kane & Lynch? About 2 hours in. Just Cause lasted about 8 hours before becoming too repetitive. Fallout 3 lasted about 30 hours with mods - oddly, Oblivion was like crack to me, wasting 200 hours of my life before I quit, yet "Oblivion with guns" lasted far less. Old games aren't any better, even those people claim are the best ever. I missed out on a lot of "great" PC games for various reasons, and I'm trying to catch up on them, but some of them are honestly overrated. KOTOR in particular - everyone says it's incredible, but the gameplay is just crap. Same for Morrowind - it's literally the most boring game I've ever played.
200+ or it's a shitty game and I want my money back.
I think a good scale is one hour per dollar spent. Anything more than that means it's an awesome game (or multiplayer)
It depends on how much I spent for the game. If it was $50AU, then I'd get at least 100 hours from it. If it was more expensive such as $80AU then at least 150 hours. If I only got it for $20, then at least 25 hours.
i really can't get addicted i play for a week after i get it then i abandon it

Someone where in the range of $1-2/Hour or less
I think a good scale is one hour per dollar spent. Anything more than that means it's an awesome game (or multiplayer)
On that scale, minecraft might be the best value ever. I know I've put at least 130 hours into a 13 dollar game. Probably closer to 200-300.
Depends on what kind of game. If it's a linear single player game I'm satisfied with 10-15 hours. Otherwise it's 25-30 or so.
I suppose it also depends on how much you pay as well. I got GRAW for Xbox for $5 and I'm satisfied with beating the game twice on both difficulties, as well as a few multiplayer matches.
This is also true. There are a lot of variables, it depends on your taste in genre too. I think "satisfied" is just a generalization, like I was satisfied with HL2 long ago and I'm still playing it purely because I enjoy the game.
I'm more of a great content and lots of it makes me satisfied. Though I personally would make single player games like MGS4 because my god I love cut senses that are amazing and long.
Generally 1 hour for every dollar. Which is why I usually wait for sales; no way is a 10 hour game worth 50 dollars.
Do you ever buy movies or go to the cinema?
No.
The amount of time it takes to feel satisfied with a game isn't as important to me as whether or not I enjoy the time spent playing. I mean, it wouldn't matter if the game only took 4 hours to beat, if I enjoyed those 4 hours it shouldn't matter. But if I'm 50 hours into a game that promises 100 hours and I'm not enjoying it at all I'm going to stop playing and ask myself why I was stupid enough to spend 50 hours playing that game to begin with.
I'd probably go on the movie theater ratio of time:money. So $8 per 2 hours sounds about right. Would you feel ripped off if after you beat it in 4 hours, there was no replay value?

1000 hours in gmod Yea... 487 in bf2 + mods 986 in flight sim x a toatal of 3,675+ hours in a bunch of games ( my xfire stats are off by quite a bit
Ultimately, it takes me awhile to discover which games I love. If I find myself constantly going back to a game to replay it's campaign or just to dick around, then I'm pleased. If I find myself replaying a game over and over again, then I don't mind if it only has an 8 hour length compared to an longer mediocre game. Mass Effect is a great example of a high value game, as I found myself playing both titles, back to back two times and almost a third before I stopped (Not due to lack of interest). If all else fails, the hour for every dollar is a reliable scale of game worth. On rare exceptions, a game that tries something new will please me. I love Heavy Rain, despite probably only spending ~20 hours (Beaten it 3 times I think) or so playing. I'm sure I will replay it again in the future, but unlike other games, it doesn't really lend itself to constant replaying.
I tend to replay games I really like. I've logged hundreds of hours in Morrowind, Demon's Souls, and some other games. Multiplayer modes don't really add much life onto the games for me, mostly because I tend to suck at them.
I'm on my 4th playthrough of Mass Effect 2, I don't get bored with it. Worth the £20.
It's depressing to see that my MW2 game time beats almost all of my other games combined: 562 hours I think last time I checked. My brother plays too much on my PC :argh:
At least a day. [editline]1st December 2010[/editline] Of play time.
I think that any good game should net you 1 hour per £1/$2.
