One bar of rested XP (5% of a level) is earned for every 8 hours spent resting. A maximum of 30 bars (150% of a level) may be earned. In other words, you can leave your character resting in an inn or capital city for up to 10 days (without gaining experience) before you earn the maximum amount of rest state, and a resting character stores up one full level of rest in 160 hours (6.67 days).

aw...poor new player just arrived at the bulwark (the entrance to WPL) as a level 8 warlock, i warned him that the zone beyond the gate was way way too high for him, he just turned his character to look at me, and ran on through the doorway, and aggro'd 2 spiders, i couldn't save him fast enough, and he died, i sat there for a few minutes waiting for him to come back to his corpse and he didn't... those kind of things can make new players quit so easy... now that i think about it theres also a cliff in the durotar that you can walk up and explore but falling off it puts you in a river with level 12 odd crosolisks and i remember somebody posting a screenshot back from the start of WoW and there was like 6 corpses all being guarded by 2 crosolisks...
