AoE 2 is amazingly fun over Hamachi. AoE 3 I kinda dislike the medieval setting is so much better.
First 2 :iia: 3rd it wasn't bad just never quite got into it I fucking loved age of mythology it's one of the few games that will always have a place in my heart regardless of how many better games I find
nice town, I'll take it

Say I get Asian Dynasties for Age of Empires III, do I need "The WarChiefs" as well?
Ao3 was such a let down. It came out in 2005 and yet the gameplay was barely improved over the previous 1999 game. I might have played Ao2 for hours and hours for months and never get bored, but Ao3 dulled after the first week.
"What happened to all the stone?" TAUUUUUUNTS, best served warm. Tis' a shame that Ensemble Studios closed down, so much for a continuation of the Age of Empires series.
I usually ain't intrested in strategy games but age of empires 2 was a fucking awesome game.
2k Games should hire all of those old producers that worked on Age of Empires and team them up with the Civilization producers and make a kickass strategy game. tl;dr Make another Rise of Nations
I have to get AoE2, I played it a couple of times at a mates, but I don't personally own it. AoE3 is still really good.
Haha, oh man. I remember playing AoE 1 or 2, not sure with my cousins and being the cool one for having such an awesome game. Which one was it that a cheat would let you spawn a god-like blue sports car? Anyways. I'm going install AoM again. Nostalgia :D
I played on Age of the Kings and III. They were awesome, but I couldn't beat them. I believe it was Age of the Kings where I had a Monster Truck and George Washington, they were4 EPIC, I wiped a whole map in about 1 minute. Good times

Someone at my school has AoE3 and when I told him I preferred the second he just said that it looked like "a crappy remake made for an arcade machine". I still don't quite understand what he meant, I mean you can't exactly expect an earlier game to have better graphics or anything. Oh well. My favourite is the second and I think I'd like the first more if buildings had a production queue like the second. Though I've never played Age of Mythology, or even seen any gameplay for that matter. Is it any good?
I don't get why nobody likes the third game. What's wrong with it?
I don't get why nobody likes the third game. What's wrong with it?
It's just not quite fun, to be honest.
That's not a good reason
I found the third game better because it didn't take forever to kill one unit there and it all was a bit faster. AoE2 is still really fun though.
I'm gonna install AoE 1 now, can't wait
I always built giant settlements with huge walls and stuff. Looked awesome back then.
Age of Mythology is the greatest Empire/RTS game ever made. The online gamemodes are amazing (Cat & Mouse <3)
oh god online... THIS IS RTS THREE, THIS ISSS RTS THREEEEEEEEE spam

Age of mythology was the best strategy game ever (for those who don't know, it was made by the same people and it was basically AOE with titans and monsters).
The titans in AoM are pretty good at ending long games. :v:
I don't get why nobody likes the third game. What's wrong with it?
Not sure about any one else, but it didn't 'feel' right to me. The way the combat worked, how base building played out, I just never liked it to much. I especially am not a fan of the railroad system. I loved both AoE 1 and 2, along with AoM. Way to much time spent playing those games, but well worth it. Half my AoE 1 games were spent building a base within my allies base, then camping at the front line converting all the enemies units to my side with a priest.
If I had to pick which ones to own in order... 1. Age of Empires 2. Age of Mythology 3. Age of Kings I didn't much care for Age of Empires 3. Same with Empire: Total War, I just didn't like the setting or ranged combat.
Are there any modern strategy games that have the same gameplay style as AOE/AOM?
I dont understand why there is so much dissapointment in Aoe3? I found it to be an amazing game, well deserving to continue the series after AoE2. Still AoE2 is still my of the series by far. Does this thread include Age of Mythology, because that game was my childhood.
Does this thread include Age of Mythology, because that game was my childhood.
Well, they are pretty much part of the same game series and everybody has been talking about them. So, i'm guessing yes.
