They could do a Greece: Total War. Focusing on the Persian wars of that era.
Sparta: Total war maybe?
Sparta: Total war maybe?
rome:total war: Alexander?
tbh the gunpowder era is so much better in tactics compared to the old stuff. in Rome it was a simple
cavalry>archers>infantry > cavalry
in medieval it changed to
cavalry>everything >spearmen > cavalry
but now there's so many more things to take into consideration. sure, your cavalry will eat up their light infantry but only if you flank from behind. is the cannon going to finish reloading by the time your squad gets close enough to melee it? etc
Pirates Total War... Very Detailed Map of the Caribbean... Awesome
Also the Build 13 mod was for Pirates of the Caribbean... a Movie Spinoff by Bethesda that almost in no way relates to the movie, Pretty good game, all be it kind of buggy
I have a screenshot of a ship battle

With the mod, of course
So no facepunch N:TW steam group for doing multiplayer campaigns then?
I've been waiting for a mod that lets you play as irish rebels, I wanna take over the world as Ireland.

Also everytime I play E:TW or N:TW the same thing ends up happening, I don't conquer much at the start, but I sit back, fight off any attacks and research EVERYTHING and build everything possible, and get a fuckton of money, then late in the campaign (when all the other nations have spent all their money trying to attack eachother thought the game) I build up a massive army (like, 3 full armies on the map) land them somewhere and just steamroll everything. Also Riflemen are fucking AWESOME when set to skrimish mode, I set them up, get close enough to a unit where they try and bayonet charge me, then set them to skrimish mode and they keep charging, and we keep running away and shooting at them, by the time it's over there all exhausted and half the unit is dead.
That tactic would never work. Sure, whilst you sit back and build up your economy and research everything (research takes fucking ages even with loads of colleges...a load of bullshit on your part perhaps>) and stave off attacks, your enemies are spending money, but someone is bound to end up conquering another country. One capital (and other major cities) can provide anywhere from 2000-5000 gold a turn. I conquered 2 cities in the Indian continent (E:TW) and I boosted my income from 4500 to 7000. And I had 2 huge armies.
Attack is the best form of defense. Go for weaker countries to get footholds on the continent (if you're playing as Britain) then you can slowly but surely move out and attack enemy strongholds and gain loads of money. Save all the big powers for later. I usually kill off Portugal, the WHOLE of the Indian continent (it basically becomes my kingdom), Morocco (so I can later attack the Barbary states and attack Spain on two fronts [Portugal and Morocco]) and then I just come up from India, wipe out Persia, attack France, attack Spain. I win.
I love it.
I really wish the multiplayer campaign could support more than 2 people. I could deal with the wait times.
A suggestion to a new total war game:
the title is Colonyal Total War,
Imagine you are playing your Faction and you can give composers and other promonent grate people scholarship example a young Ludwig van Beethoven,Louis Spohr,Alexander Borodin ore Arthur Sullivan, etc. So they can give your contry a place in history and make your country more famous on the map.
Give woman some rights, what about giving woman right to vote, and will your subjects react to this
Do like Napoleon and legalize homosexuality like he did in 1804
Will this new reforms spark an revolution ore will it bee a freehaven for all who are fleeing opression.
You can colonize africa to explore the many natural richness.
Become the British Empire and take part in the Anglo-Zulu War.
Be a German state hungry for colony in the fare south
You are a French Emperor not willing to stand by and see the british empire growing.
You are a Spanish King/Queen and you are hungry for more than "only" The south Americas.
And so on.
So pretty much you want Empire: total war but with a bunch of unnecessary political bullshit?

All titles above Sir can be referred to as Lord.
If they make another gunpowder era game, I'm done with Total War. I liked Empire, but the time it takes to end the turns made me stop playing extremely quickly, and I didn't enjoy the combat nearly as much as any of the previous games. Napoleon would be the first TW game that I didn't buy on release day (or ever for that matter). Anyway, if I was in charge, the next game to be made would be Shogun 2. Tac Error had a good idea, a Three Kingdoms: Total War would be awesome. Then again, it shouldn't be limited to China. I'm the type that always plays on the largest possible map, with the most possible enemies.
I proffered the tactical side of the Gunpowder era in the latest games. I remember Rome being who ever had the most Archers/Cavalry/Legionaries won. And Bomino, Alexander was a Macedonian and came quite a bit after the famous era of Greece and Sparta (like the Troy era).

I stand corrected.

This. Rome Total War was AMAZING, but battle solely depended on who had the most men and what men you had. You could easily zerg rush the enemy with your cavalry and their archers couldn't do anything to stop them. In N:TW, a good volley can send off even the most daunting cavalry charges.
i'm still dreaming of a Global: total war. with EVERY nation they can cram in there with a mix of eras but limited to Melee tybe armies and cultures. No gunpowder. and latest allowed origin of a nation should be 1200's

Why don't you go and play Europa Universalis or Crusader Kings then?
Why don't you go and play Europa Universalis or Crusader Kings then?
i would. but where's the massive battles?
Your generals are fighting the massive battles for you, that is if you value good gameplay over modern graphics.
The AI does a remarkably good job of flanking but not so good in combat itself. They bayonet charge waaay too much though.
All titles above Sir can be referred to as Lord.
If I remember correctly, you can only call a Duke, "Duke."
I much prefer the actual tactics in E:TW, back in Rome the only guys I had to use tactics on were Phalanxes, and even then it was limited to "distract front of phalanx, flank phalanx" Now I actually have to think about where I place my units, have to watch out for artillery and cavalry, and even then you could get wiped out by a good solid volley to the right spot, it's not just "select units, right click on units, wait, right click on next unit, ect ect."
needs a minor nation mod to be released
The AI does a remarkably good job of flanking but not so good in combat itself. They bayonet charge waaay too much though.
I'm almost finished with an entire campaign of the coalition and I don't think i've ever seen the AI bayonet charge when they're in regular line vs line combat.\

And unfortunately, i'm not sure how important the "Anglo-Zula War fan" market is to CA.
If I remember correctly, you can only call a Duke, "Duke."
Quote from Wiki:
Five ranks of peer exist in the United Kingdom, in descending order, these are: duke, marquess, earl, viscount, and baron. The title 'Lord' is used most often by barons who are rarely addressed with any other. The style of this address is 'Lord (X)', for example, Alfred Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson, is commonly known as 'Lord Tennyson'.
Basically Lord is just another way of saying someone with peerage.
And back on topic a bit. I recently had a battle on E:TW where I managed to fight off an army 5 times my size, because of tactics, and the fact they were native Americans. I really hope that CA stay on track leaning towards the more tactical side of history, and don't stray back to the Rome era, which was basically use archers then Charge! But I don't think that the series can go much further down the line, maybe they could make a Colonial Africa game, around about the Boer war time?
I'm almost finished with an entire campaign of the coalition and I don't think i've ever seen the AI bayonet charge when they're in regular line vs line combat.\.
Usually I see them commence it in desperation after seeing a fellow unit shattered and routing. Also is there any way to edit the turns in the game? I'm in the Italy campaign and only have 19 more turns when I just recently crossed into Austrian soil.
Nevermind, I beat it. Still would be nice though to know if it's possible to do that.

That forum is slightly disturbing.
Just look at the way how half of them type; it's like they're all role playing their ultimate 18th century fantasy whilst at the same time modding for a game.
Also, some of the mods are incredibly stupid. Like this one mod I came across, had fucking orchestral music that replaced the drums and flute.
