Theaters of war that game designers haven't touched

I've never seen any multiplayer fps action games (good or otherwise) that have taken place in the era of the samurai / ninja. I honestly think it would be quite good to have a large scale battle in that time frame.
A side thought: You'd have to be really careful otherwise it'd be pretty easy to fuck it up.
Mount and blade only meet half the requirements. Unless I'm thinking of another game.
You can get HDR and highres texture mods for it. And a mod that can change the unit cap into anything up to a thousand soldiers at once.
It's worth it. Especially if you haven't seen the latest versions.
I'd love to see a CoD style FPS about a Soviet-US war. If they had a Red Dawn or WiC scenario, it'd be perfect. I mean, the only games that's ever really dealt with Soviet invasion are Freedom Fighters, which is a bit aged now and in third person, and World in Conflict, which is an RTS. Sure it's fictional, but it wasn't far off from happening and I'd love to play an FPS based around it.
But as far as real wars go, I can't say. There are plenty of civil wars and the like amongst smaller countries, I guess they could do something with them.
In the Korean war they used WW2 technology, soooo...
Operation Flashpoint had Soviet - US conflicts.
I'm pretty sure Mercenaries took place in the Korean war

Wrong time period, Mercenaries was modern Korean War.
Both idiots.

Yea because it wasn't that long since WW2 ended?
You all should know very well which theaters of war have been beaten to death: the Sci-fi, world war II and current day warfare, even Vietnam has been done by a few games.
I notice there's nearly nothing game wise about the Korean War. In fact its not a warfare subject a lot of people talk about, so I am not all that surprised nobody's bothered to produce a game set in this era. Vietnam has been done by the Battlefield Series and a couple other games (Men of Valor) but for the most part they hadn't gained enough popularity to make a newer game.
I would love to see a game set in the Korean War, mainly because nobody appears to have bothered to try.
Shogun total war?
That game from microsoft about asian race?
I want to see Ultra-Future fps games. Like, ship combat and orbital lasers and combat on the sun.

Why don't you try that new Angels Fall First mod for UT3?
I wish there was a game where you are in medieval times and are waging war against other castles, could follow a historic timeline or just feature pivotal battles in medieval history. The difference about it would be that every soldier is a player and it has current gen graphics. And it was rated M for the amount of gore and dismemberment.
I want to see a game where pirates battle ninjas.
Because apparently, noone likes losing, so they never FUCKING make it. Not that I wouldn't not like it( Also people who aren't jewish will complain that it is racist towards jews).

I don't think gamers are that interested playing Nazi Party members behind desks signing things.
Box.
German soldiers wasn't necessary more evil than an allied soldier. Fighting for your country isn't the same as fighting for the goverments beliefs.
Let's say that a big war broke out in the US (or wherever you live), you'd probably still fight for your country even though you hate Obama. (you get my point). And this is the end of my discussion on this matter, because this isn't what the thread is about
A WW2 game set from a Germans POI would be awesome. We've already seen enough warcrimes fighting as the soviets in CoD:WaW, so I guess we could watch some of that here aswell. I'd be satisfied
even if the plot was a german who turned over to the other side for some reason (after like, half the game, not the intro cutscene), because it would be refreshing.

The second guy you quoted had a point. Most soldiers weren't Nazis. Almost all Nazis were more involved in politics than fighting.
WW1 in todays graphics, ive seen lots of movies about that time but not a game yet.
Only mounted machineguns.
Armored trains, with cannons.
Adventures of young indiana jones (war time)
//Also game about being a Guerilla in Southern America.

The nazis didn't lose every single battle, there's still some to exploit.

Especially love the Guerilla in South America part, couldn't agree more.
http://www.koreaforgottenconflict.com/
It's an awful game. I got it for like 2€ and still regret purchasing it.
More like koreaforgottengame.com
Anyways WWI, I wouldn't mind there playing trench warfare because I like massive clusterfucks of battles, even if completely one-sided.
Or the boxer rebellion. But they'd have to dramatize it.
Has anyone made a Grenada game yet?
I haven't seen many games on the WW2 Resistance fighters.
Barely any doing airborne right. (MOH:Airborne)
and I'm mainly going by FPS here. there is prob a load of RTS. But same with everything else.
Everything goes by fad though, Korea might be next. WW2 was the last, and Modern is the now
I'm pretty sure there's never been a video game set in the Yugoslav Wars.

One about Ethnic Cleansing would be kickin' rad.

Let me rephrase:
There has never been a game normal people have heard of set in the Yugoslav Wars.
WW1 would be a nice change.

Try Mount and Blade. Sounds like what you're after.
Making a realistic or semi realistic WWI game with era weapons and trench warfare wont appeal to the mass audience that game designers shoot for. But you never know, personally a WWI game would be amazing.

I can see it now!
Trenches: The Game.
* Visit exciting locales like Verdun and The Marne, all in drab bombed out grasslands!
* The threat of Snipers and Machine Guns are everywhere, stay crouched for most of the game!
* Battle Trench Foot, get Post Traumatic Stress!
* 2 Hours of waiting in a trench, followed by 1 minute of running across a field to be mowed down!

Oh goody.
Korean War flight sim. With jets, but no heat seeking missiles!
Spanish Civil War would work well.
French Revolution might work, maybe, in a small game.
English Civil War might be interesting somehow.
Jacobites could work.
Y'know, general civil wars and uprisings.
