I really liked the 3rd generation.
For me:
Generation 3 is slightly > Generation 2 is > Generation 1 (I haven't played anything above generation 3.
[editline]10:45AM[/editline]
I refuse to play it if it looks like this.
Why? It looks fine and at least they changed it from the 4th gen. What did you expect a huge graphics overhaul on the same system? Gore and blood?
I really wish they'd actually add... I don't know something big to the games, sure the gameplay is getting much better, but it still feels like I'm playing the same game over and over again. I don't know how to explain it, maybe it's how the stories have relatively the same path. Diamond and Pearl almost made a big change when you got a few tasks from the professor where you had to protect those legendary mew-like pokemon. (In the lakes.)
On a Japanese Imageboard, the first pictures of what could be CoroCoro has come out featuring what are screenshot from the upcoming games; Pokémon Black and White. This picture shows the new battle screen and features a battle between Zorua & Zoroark. We also got the first picture of the overworld. We'll bring more as it comes. The information is as follows

There is a shop in the Pokémon Centre

The 3D in this game is far more advance then previous games

It appears that CoroCoro isn't reveallig much information in this issue, but rather showing the graphical change between the generations
I fail to see how people think the pokemon franchise is going to die. Just take a look at other long-going franchises such as the FF series. They're still going strong and they've probably been around longer than pokemon have.
FFXIII was crap. XIV's another MMORPG.
Meh.

It feels wrong though...
It would be like giving voice acting to Zelda games

they are taking it too far with the 3d. Colosseum was okay because it was a different art style.

Yeah this is basically how I feel.
I think that Fire Red and Leaf Green looked off, but was excusable, That Soul Silver and Heart Gold looked way off but still wasn't too bad. In my opinion, the last good looking Pokemon game was Emerald.
This is just... ugh. It feels way too off. It's jarring, it makes me uncomfortable.
they just need to fix the camera.

This is like my favorite image now.
Pokemon isn't supposed to be 3d, its top-down and 2d I think their ruining it with the over excessive 3d shit.
I think they ruined Half Life 2 by upgrading to the source engine :downs:
they just need to fix the camera.
If you could move it up/down it would be pretty great
Looks fucking sick.

Nah.
Valve kept with the same style and didn't fucking kill the original vibe.

That's a terrible comparison. It's so far off.
same style? The graphics were totally overhauled. Pokemon kept with the same style too, except its 3D
holy shit 3D suckss!!!!!!!!!!!!
and says the guy who tried comparing the changes to 'like giving voice acting to Zelda'
Zoroark looks like a fucking digimon.

No, When I say style I mean the game play actually stayed the same. It was a simple formula in new clothing, with the same story telling and same ideas. The graphics remained relatively unchanged.
With each generation they dress Pokemon up in new clothes but also add another new facet that I end up not liking or ignoring. For instance, Generation 2 had that stupid time system where if you wanted to catch a certain Pokemon you had to wake up at 3 AM to get it. There was also that phone system where you would get an un-skippable call every minute or so. Generation 3 gave us Pokemon contests. I thought it was a dumb idea, and it came out of the blue and was never explained. There was also the extra baggage of natures and abilities, so I need to roll the dice a bit to get the proper nature so I can gain a full potential. It also held on to the time concept, except that I had to wait a week for a certain thing to happen instead of 12 hours. Generation 4 and 5 is the same thing as Generation 1 and 2 but with more of the unlikable features. Now, not all of these new features are terrible, some are alright, like breeding so you can have more hands on experience raising Pokemon, effectively giving you more control, the multi battles, and the incentive of Shiny Pokemon, a fun feature that lets you play more. However, none of these are really game breaking but are enjoyable.
However, when I see these new screens and see them breaking well established guidelines such as the graphical feel and new structures, I fear for the game. I have no way of knowing what other long time standards they will change. I believe that my fears are well founded and reasonable.
Then you come waltzing in here and start attacking my opinions with poorly thought out and baseless arguments and poor grammar. My opinions are not dense or ignorant because this is how I genuinely feel. This is my experience. I don't like the new features before as I've used them and hated them. That's not ignorance, it's the opposite. It's being open to new changes and forming well thought out arguments. However, you calling MY opinions ignorant is an excellent example of irony. You have no right to take your own opinions and call mine stupid off of them. I respect your opinion, I don't mind if you enjoy it and I won't try to convince you otherwise. However, you have no ground calling me stupid and ignorant because of my experience and opinions.

Also, just putting this out there: It's not only the graphics, it's what they imply. It changes 2 standards: Pokemon Centers/Marts, and very urban environments. I'm saying I won't play it if it keeps up with the trend of changing shit without cause. (Also they are ugly as shit in it's current form.)

some of what you said is true, otherwise no it's not opinion, reading what you said you just seem a little stuck up in the past is all.
Generation IV and V are much different than Generation I and II in terms of battling and a lot of other things. Nature and abilities just added to the game..
It just sounds like to me, reading it over, that you still have your nostalgia goggles on tight. And by the way, none of your previous posts implied any of what you just said now, you just went into detail. Before the only thing you could comprehend from your posts was bitching about the graphics, which again is stupid.
And yes I agree Pokemon hasn't done anything majorly game breaking and probably will not for awhile yet.
