IGN released their list of best PC games. Apparently Fallout is worse than Crysis. - Games

I'm surprised they actually included Falcon 4.0 somewhere, at least it's good to see someone remembers the last great combat flight sim. Falcon 4.0: "The best combat flight sim that has ever been made and, sadly, the best that will ever be made." While I generally disagree with most IGNs lists of best PC games of all time, probably the one thing I've always agreed with is that X-Com: UFO Defense should be #1. X-Com: UFO Defense may be really old, but the ideas it had were far ahead of its time, so much so that even playing it today there are so many ideas in it that seem too innovative to have come from 1993.

although I don't think it deserves as high a place as it got, can I be the only person who enjoyed crysis for reasons besides the graphics?

Fuck all of you guys. I love crysis, especially the multiplayer. the multiplayer is what made the game for me. anyways, decent list I think. a lot of those games still have amazing play value today. I don't approve of Dues Ex being so low, but that's my opinion.

Seems like most of the list is more about innovation and defining a genre than been the best games. Crysis had graphics far beyond what had come before it, C&C is on there yet it is normally agreed that Red Alert and Red Alert 2 are better games. Just depends what you define as the best games, ones that make the most what others have done before or those that do something new and make it work.

There wasn't a hell of a lot to it, just some big terrain, and a lot of guys with a bunch of ways to kill each other. At the time I hadn't played a game anything like it, and I fell in love. There was something fun about typing "Carrier at C5!" and seeing a bunch of planes switch directions to go bomb the ever loving hell out of it, its defenders trying desperately to take off or shoot us down before their final spawn point, bastion of planewhores, sank into the chilling depths... Desert Combat was an excellent mod too, had a lot of fun with it. That said, it may not be a good game by modern standards anymore, but its success certainly paved the way for the next Battlefield games, all of which I played, enjoying some more than others. (I think Vietnam could've been great with some tweaking and fixing.)

I even saw clans make squads purposely for grenade spamming, IE they'd go support to keep giving ammo to their grenade tossing teammates

I think X-Com was a great game, and I played it for a lot of hours - It's addicting. But I think Mass Effect should've been in the list. Heck, Mass Effect is one of the greatest storyline in game history. Anybody that goes apeshit after me is stupid, since it's my opinion.
