You also have to install the patch manually since steam doesn't do it for you. How do most of you guys join the server? The in-game thing always says I timed out and X-Fire won't detect Sturmovik.
You have to go to the target location and all that. You just gotta find the .exe manually. To go to my server directly, go to Multiplayer> Join server > put in IP> Join
I'm trying to use hyperlobby now since Xfire and the game seem to not like me. What would the server's name be or how would I join through hyperlobby? Probably going to give up after this.
i just put the 24.178.237.202:21000 in the join ip section in game and it worked, unsure what the server was called in hyperlobby...

Yeah that doesn't work for me. Maybe it's something with my internet connection. I'll try again when I go to my friends house tomorrow.

IL2 1946 and version 4.08m. Some have AAA mod installed but it's not required to play on the server, I don't have it and it works normally.

Are you able to play if you just have all the expansions installed? Or do you need the IL2 1946 from steam?
Like, if you have the whole IL2 fb+aep+pf does it work?

It should work as the servers are not supported by steam anyway.
If you have all of the expansions it should work.

From what I've seen once the player count reaches 6 or more, all coordination gets thrown to hell and everyone starts using jets and lerches and shit like that.
First there's always the one idiot at the start who uses a jet. Then someone goes jet aswell to try and shoot him down/get revenge/pay back his lameness, and then another person gets jet, and five minutes after it's a pure fuckfest of ME-163's and Lerches.

So is it worth to get Il-2 on steam? Or should I get the retail version?

Umm we were trying to split up boat war with lolburst, but some cunts joined and started rage.
Basically we wanted to turn blue team into boats, and let red team bomb us only.
Everyone was doing everything.
Also PE-8 rage was awesome.

Because everyone is crying when someone is using jets. What the fuck. 1946 is basically addon that adds jets, if you don't want them then play normall IL 2 Sturmovik.
If you want to make clear rules than make map briefing.
You can't hold 9 motherfuckers from breaking every possible rule.
