Try using the A6M Zero. It's slow, but very agile as stated before. Try playing single player and setting up missions attacking bombers, then go smaller, then practice takeoff and landing, then carriers, then low altitude ship attacks and move on. You should be partially passable as a bomber interceptor.

Use the trims to make your plane fly straighter and avoid fully pulling the stick in one direction, it causes you to spin out in many planes. Always be very light on the controls. Also, I find it more responsive when I set up my axes like this:

What kinda battles do you fly the Zero online? Ones where you have to take off? Or ones where you start right next to the enemy?

And I also got around to getting IL-2 1946 ordered, It's gonna be here in a few days :dance:

My god, I fresh installed this game and then used my X52 with it on the default Hotas settings...I practically had 2 massive dead zones then a real sensitive area in the middle.
I set all those bastards to 100.
Whoah, I saw this in Game and Gamestation earlier. Never seen it in a shop before.

My copy of IL-2 came in the mail yesterday and I'd like to know how does one install/make skins? I have a quick done one in the folder for the MiG-3 but its not showing up in-game
Also is there any planes that handle like a MiG-3 but with cannons. cause I miss my cannons :frown:

I had a kind of weird echoing effect, though it happened all the time. Check your audio settings and make sure they're set to the proper device (Headphones, speakers, surround sound setup, etc.) and play with some of the other settings in there, I guess?

Sorry. I'm clueless, but if you play in Hyperlobby there is an options in the graphics section of options.
My hyperlobby broke it keeps giving me error messages about being out of memory
I have 3GB of ram and 20+ GB of hard drive space how the hell am I out of memory?
I have the ye-olde original as well as Pacific Fighters. Never played either online yet and I was thinking of getting into it.
There are craploads of updates needed to get both games up to the current versions, waaay too many for me to do this without asking first.
Does anybody actually play the two I have, or do they only play the new steam ones and all that?
Is this game realy worth its money?.. If i only have a keyboard & mouse.. Or even an better question is it rly worth its money to buy a joystick for?

It is worth buying, for the multiplayer experience. You need a joystick if you play this, but you get better as you play. The keyboard feels jerky and horrible. You will probably crash on every landing sequence and dogfight. You NEED a joystick or you shouldn't get this.
I should reinstall this sometime. I remember having a lot of fun on the facepunch server months ago, flyin' around in my zero.
I'll host if I can get enough people to play.
