I modded my plane's skin a bit. Added my own horrid face to the top and bottom.
So that's what it looked like.
I'm thinking of buying this over steam (as I have the money right now), but I'm only stopping because of one reason: When I played this at a friends house with my gamepad (A logitech dual action, pretty much exactly the same as a PS2 controller), the plane's cursor seemed to float around a bit. I'll probably buy it anyways.
Edit:
Woop woop, just bought it for both me and my friend. Spam me with friendl-- oh wait. :(
the only reason i'm no good at this game is because the plane always drifts upward, like i'm trying to aim and it just moves up and i'm like ._.

Adjust the trim maybe?

I need to get a joystick before I truly attempt dogfighting.
At the moment I just find it great fun to fly.
Adjust the trim maybe?
So that's what trim does? I thought trim has to do with the rudder..
I usually pick planes that fly pretty straight at 100% and use the going up to spray. I don't have a joystick so it's something that helps landing bullets onto their planes.
I hate how the engine of the biplanes just shuts off if you move too fast down. That or a super slowdown.

All of your control surfaces have trim. Basically it is a small adjustable part of the control surface that you move up or down so that your aircraft is stable in flight. If you're trimmed correctly you should be able to let go of the stick and have your height and bearing remain constant.
The biplanes (and also the early spitfires and hurricanes) didn't have the sophisticated fuel injection that most planes later had. So when you dive, g-forces are preventing the fuel from entering the engine. The trick to avoid it is to invert before you dive, eg. instead of pushing the stick forwards, roll onto your back and then pull the stick back.

I roll twice and climb again just to fly "straight". D:
It's really aweful with the biplanes.
I like to fly the tb3's best. Stalling happens..well, never. Speed up to 360km/h and as low as 120. Fighters don't like low speeds. they keep flying past, allowing for some spray in the tummy.
The only bad thing about is that the guns are awefully weak and flaps fall off when you roll dive and pull up with 360km/h. And it's not a very good glider. Engine failure will happen, but engine damage is almost standard.
I was playing IL2 on my bus and some kid distracted me right as I was about to load an enemy with a good amount of ammo.
I look at him, look back, then I lost a wing
How do I get IL2 to run in a window? In the Video Mode options, I can't change it to windowed, as it's greyed out... What the fuck
I don't like TicTac's server too much, people start too close and they also start in the air. When I spawn I almost immediately get rammed into or something.
If someone could make me a custom map...
Right when I get home, the servers down.
:(!!!!
Sorry, I will host it now.
The server exploded
Sorry, I forgot I had it running.
I will rehost.
Pass is cat.
Pass is cat.
The pass certainly is not cat.
uh.. Lemme change it.
Okay.
Aw, sorry guys, I got the equivalent to the BSoD.
We should do a coop mission sometime.
I'll be able to play in about an hour if the server is going up again.
Is the server going up any time soon?
Hosting and playing now, get in vent.

Eh, that's one of the bad things about the TB-3, the other is that it was massively out of date even at the start of the war. Fighters SHOULD fly past bombers, the best way to attack bombers is by doing repeated passes on them from above left and above right. If you match speeds with a bomber you'll get torn up by gunners. That's why all the late war bombers are designed to travel fast and at high altitudes, like the B29. Higher speed means it takes fighters longer to bounce you and once they do your gunners have better chance of taking them out. Slowness is not a benefit, it makes you an easy target.

Better than flying for 10 minutes to reach the enemy, maybe kill someone, die, fly for 10 minutes again, repeat.
You spend more time waiting than fighting on other maps.. the map Tic's server uses now is perfect.
How do you set Anti Aliasing in IL2 anyways?
How do you set Anti Aliasing in IL2 anyways?
You need to set it via your video card's settings program. nView if you use nVidia, CCC if you use ATI. If you use nVidia you can set it to be associated with the program, with ATI you either need to set up a custom profile or just change it manually each time.

I find most of the dogfighting servers too arcadey, I like immersion and near full or full realism. I don't mind flying for a while if the mission is well-made, it pays off.
