Not always dude, if you fly fast enough you can usually smother the fire out although it tends to re ignite again when you slow down...makes landings interesting.
Put out a fire by nose diving, then when coming into land, just before I touched down, the fire lit up again and blew off my wing...crash and burn! :D

It depends about what smoke we are talking about, If engine catches fire and whole fuel too, then I bet it looks similiar to mine. I didn't say that fuel leak is black smoke.
Also, I said it is semi realistic, no need to start crying about how unrealistic it is.

I am sick of old smoke/fire so I made this and thought I would share it with you, but as always showing anything on facepunch ends with being flammed by military freaks.
Making my smoke stay about 20 minutes would be a lag monster.
I actually know the first image i posted was showing a flame because i ran into a color version later on.
Just trying to defend the vanilla smoke because i think it's more realistic than pitch black smoke.
Also, sucks it's almost impossible to find an image of a smoke trail.

With 4.09b we can install more stuff like mods.
version 9 would exclude quite some people from the server without adding much to the gameplay.

Just click version switcher to 4.09MODS ON in your IL 2 directory.
Version 4.09 let's you install mods like quick mission builder +.
So you won't have only 5 maps but 20 in quick mission builder.
And if you want to join 4.08 server just use version switcher.

Everyone should get AAA. The stock IL2 game is pretty shit until you mod the crap out of it.

Can never really seem to get into them though. I believe I've got an old joystick floating around somewhere. Might give it a go.
I could probably live without the twist since the one I posted is £10 less.

well, shouldn't be to bad considering my joystick can be bought for < £15 (old :D) and it does its job. alot of people use saitek too.

Before I ask, Ive trawled through this thread and havent found any answers yet but I got this game from steam. Downloaded the 4.08 patch, downloaded the Hyperlobby, got the game location set up ok, went to forgotten battles NOT Il-2 and everytime I try to join a server it times out. Can anyone help?
