Not sure, but you might not have the drivers for DirectX, or it might not be supported. I used to be able to have perfect settings in OpenGL, but now I can't, when I switch to perfect, the water turns black.

Fun game to play with friends, but infuriatingly steep learning curve gets in the way, especially when Im taking off and some dork who plays the game 24/7 strafes me on the runway and has my fuel tanks and engines catch fire and explode. Very in depth game.
So, I DL'd the sounds and aircraft mod pack from Fileplanet, and installed it.
Problem is, the game does not start anymore, it loads to 5% in the first screen and then CTD's. Anybody got any idea how to fix that? Or was it a bad idea to install that thing? Or is it incompatible with steam (I DL'd 1946 from steam)?
I have the same problem, 'cept I didn't install any mods. Just bought it from steam.
1. Download it from the AAA forum.
2. Make sure you change the version using the version changer to 4.08m.

And if it is really hard, does anyone have any good recommendations for one?
Also I have PS2 controller to USB adapter, so would using a PS2 controller make it easier?

Its pretty hard but Ive played it before. Its just really complicated remembering what keys do what

I can't get my 360 controller to work, if I touch the thumbsticks,my plane freaks out.
