Ok.... How am I a liar though, and I never said I had 1337 keyboard skills, all I said was that elitists I sometimes end up with bitch and moan if I happen to kill them.... All of you are now ignored. Except hax4543 and Lord Ned
I have wanted this game for a long time, and I finally purchased it in the recent Ubisoft pack,
The only issue is that I dont own a joystick, but I do have a wired USB Xbox 360 Controller,
Can anyone please helpp me out in being able to play the game with the controller successfully?
I tried to do a singleplayer game with bots, and it was difficult to turn and the AI co-pilot was yelling stuff like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING !!!!" and "STOP THAT OMG"
so......
help plz?
I can't fly with my 360 controller either, but I have Pacific Fighters, so I don't know.

There has got to be a way to fly normally with a 360 controller lol
Most likely, but I don't know it. Would really like to though.
People always host when I'm not paying attention :(
Damn, I have to get a joystick. I had the one reccomended in the instruction booklet, but it broke.
It's hard to aim with the keyboard.
Just a question, at what difficulty should I put this game to get the most out of it? I've put it on easy and I can fly relatively well, but I don't feel like I'm truly playing IL-2.
On a side note, for some reason, whenever I turn just a tad too much, the plane starts spiralling down. It's frustrating! Fortunately this doesn't happen on easy, though.
Has anyone got any tips for pulling out of a stall, I heard that pulling back works but it hasn't helped much.

If you want the true feeling of Il-2 then put it at the most 'realistic' difficulty obviously. :)
Also when you're turning a tad too much, you're stalling the plane. It won't do it on easy because stalls are turned off.

Well, since stalls are nearly always due to a lack of speed, try to regain control by pointing your nose towards the ground and by reducing thrust (otherwise it will just keep spinning).
If you get back in control and point your nose down, it should quickly gain enough speed to become steerable again.
That's how I do it anyways.

Yeah, I usually go for forcing the nose down and throwing back the throttle. Let it nose dive for a bit, get the speed back up then slowly pulling up. If there's no height then just bail out.

Download X-Padder
So I played a little yesterday by chasing around an AI on a quick mission. I flailed around for a while before finally figuring out how to stay on my opponent's 6, but now I just need to figure out how to pick up speed so I can actually get close enough to shoot.

Opposite, oppose every movement that the plane is making. Depending in the direction of the spin you can use engine torque to counter it, full power isn't always the best solution.

Another thing, you will still stall regardless of speed if your angle of attack is too high, always be light on the stick.

Always lead ahead of your target, never follow directly behind it's flight path.
Also get on ventrillo faggots I feel like playing. :V
I will when I get home in two hours. :(
I'm baaack. Did anyone miss me?
Tic, stop playing Hockey il2 is cooler
sowwy. I will probably host when Steam goes back up.
I have a joystick and 95% of the time I can get out of a stall by forcing it a bearing of 045 degrees then sharply 135 degrees and back and forth, and it levels out.
Yeah, depends of the kind of stall. Flat spins are like impossible to get out of.
How do you read the bearings or the vectors? When I request help from the air-controller about mission objective it says "Vector blahblahblah". How do you know what vector your on?
Use your map I guess. :p
