i might be able to put together some max payne 2 style spoof movies together for this (remember [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMr07VHKPJU]dick justice[/url] in mp2 and the rest of the in-game satire of itself?) [editline]11:27PM[/editline] or if you guys remember SIN EPISODES there's ads all around the city that say "call #### (4 digits)" and there's payphone-like terminals around the map and you can call the numbers and get funny voice messages detailing the product. and, uh, talking vending machines.
That would be spectacular oh did you get those MP voice samples recorded yet, by the way?
here's my try at one of these ad scrolls [IMG_thumb]http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/oo55/redstar1993/fffff.png[/IMG_thumb]
(some) adds should play a sound, or read out the message when you look directly at them for like a second.
You guys are welcome to use these: [url]http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=882910&highlight=impact[/url] cl_new_impact_effects 1

The dev svn thing doesn't seem to have the source code in it. :saddowns:

Waste of space. The source code has already been shat on by writing code in the base classes.
[QUOTE=SteveUK;20396063] The source code has already been shat on by writing code in the base classes.[/QUOTE] What the poop.
[QUOTE=Daimao;20396077]What the poop.[/QUOTE] CBaseViewModel and CBaseCombatWeapon have ironsight-related code in them, when they should be in derived classes.
[QUOTE=SteveUK;20396093]CBaseViewModel and CBaseCombatWeapon have ironsight-related code in them, when they should be in derived classes.[/QUOTE] I guess I should start sweeping code before I start adding new code then.
With 256x2048 you mean pixels?
obviously
For slummier areas perhaps the ad scrollers could have graffiti on them, also randomized (on a non-scrolling layer above the actual display). Also a random hacker event in which that goddamn GITS hacker face comes on all screens in an area, for an easter egg or something. Just throwing that out there.
I didn't feel like using UnlitTwoTextures, so the screen actually is made up of 3 layers: The screen, scanlines and an extra, semi-unused layer (Faint vignetting right now). I could put the graffiti on the vignette layer, it's vertexlitgeneric anyway.
How's this? [Img_thumb]http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3239/darkmatter.jpg[/Img_thumb]
[QUOTE=kevlar jens;20397531]How's this? [Img_thumb]http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3239/darkmatter.jpg[/Img_thumb][/QUOTE] Haha, it's in. [editline]05:09PM[/editline] Oh yeah, you should make the left and right edges seamless because it's a scroller. [editline]05:12PM[/editline] Scanlines are a bit too strong cuz I'm testing them. Don't mind that. [img]http://www.jaanus.cc/pictures/testingmap0077.jpg[/img]
[QUOTE=TH89;20393420]That would be spectacular oh did you get those MP voice samples recorded yet, by the way?[/QUOTE] PM me what you want. i sat down the other day to get some done but i'm honestly utterly clueless [editline]10:57AM[/editline] OH HEY also you can make an RT texture on those too and do a breen style broadcast; aka having funny real advertisements ;) I'll try to learn some basic Hammer to see if I can do this. should be fairly simple
[QUOTE=Jaanus;20397625]Haha, it's in. [editline]05:09PM[/editline] Oh yeah, you should make the left and right edges seamless because it's a scroller. [/QUOTE] Sure thing, [Img_thumb]http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6224/darkmatterseamless.jpg[/Img_thumb]
You only see about 1/5 of the texture at ta time. Take this into consideration.
He certainly looks fresh.
looks boring
Hell, I'd vote for his badass twin.
just give up honestly that's one of the dumbest things i've ever seen [editline]03:38PM[/editline] here's an idea: make advertisements that MAY HAVE A CHANCE OF BEING DISPLAYED IN THE REAL WORLD this isn't obviously going to be over-the-top ridiculous. haven't you ever heard of subtle before?

What about miiiiine? :saddowns: [/whine]
Yeah he's pretty much brilliant [editline]10:48PM[/editline] [QUOTE=pod;20403222]What about miiiiine? :saddowns: [/whine][/QUOTE] It's a stick figure and some text. That's not convincing marketing.
[img]http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7103/legendsoftheuniverse.jpg[/img] use this as a guide: simplicity works as long as it looks good. yours is hardly artistic, pod also, you probably spent more time making yours then i did mine. [editline]04:52PM[/editline] redstar went for the same TV/movie advertisement ordeal as well but he doesn't grasp the concept of scrolling so in the end it'd just look like garbage when in doubt make a scrolling gif yo [editline]04:54PM[/editline] anyway th89 get back to me thx ttytomorrow
[QUOTE=kevlar jens;20397531]How's this? [Img_thumb]http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3239/darkmatter.jpg[/Img_thumb][/QUOTE] Anyone making ads should look at this for some inspiration. THIS is a good ad.
Thanks, Benji
