I thought this was going to be delayed into oblivion. Awesome news.
You guys are forgetting that the ORIGINAL translations were not 100% correct. The Wii version has exact translations. Balrog saying "Huzzah!" was just something funny they replaced "Oh yeah!" with. "Oh yeah!" is the real translation. Same with GrassTown/Bushlands. Personally, I think this version is completely ruined. They put really loud footsteps, made the text scrolling sound more annoying, butchered the music(I put it back on original after) and the new graphics hardly look different. The dialogue was funny when it wasn't exact, as well. The PC/PSP version is superior in every way. Especially the PSP version seeing how it's portable. Just because the Wii version isn't free doesn't mean it's better. I mean, Pixel Studios didn't even have anything to do with this, and Nicalis gets all the money. Nicalis is the company responsible for butchering everything. Also, the Curly Brace mode hardly has any differences. Only a tiny bit of dialogue. It's disappointing in my opinion.
I completely agree, played through the game both on PC and PSP (only did the true ending on PSP, though).
Is it true that they put Quote in a yellow outfit? If so then fuck that shit.
Pretty sure it's: Yellow = Easy mode Red = Normal mode Blue = Hard mode
I dunno, but I heard that you can switch from the new art/music to the old one. Is that true?
rabit dies
Another quality post.
I dunno, but I heard that you can switch from the new art/music to the old one. Is that true? Another quality post.
Yes. It's in the options screen. The new music is eh, and the old music is way too quiet/has issues streaming, but I'm glad I was able to give pixel some money for his work.
I played through cave story in Japanese so I don't care much that they messed with the script I am buying this Wait, it's nintendo. Have they reduced the difficulty level down to "autistic five-year old"? [editline]01:11PM[/editline] I hope not I'm buying it anyway
Not every game released for a Nintendo system is made by Nintendo
Motherfucking awesome game. Cried manly tears when the [sp]girl died.[/sp]
She doesn't really die this game has many endings wow very horrible they ruined everything the only thing good is the graphics but that's all

You definitely don't decrease difficulty to their level.
You're thinking of savants.^

Music can be switched back to original, as you already stated. New graphics can be switched back to the original too. There's really no point in whining about any of the new visuals/music when you can set them to be however you like.
The PC/PSP version is superior in every way. I mean, Pixel Studios didn't even have anything to do with this, and Nicalis gets all the money. Nicalis is the company responsible for butchering everything.
On the contrary, Pixel worked very closely with the Nicalis team and all the new graphics and music were either done directly by him or approved by him. (Also as far as I've read, ALL the new graphics were done by Pixel.) Nothing got into the game without first going past him. Second, Pixel IS getting money from the project as well, considering he worked closely with the studio and is credited in-game. What makes you think Nicalis would be able to pick up the game and port it without Pixel's consent? If Pixel isn't getting money, then it's because he's outright turning it down. They're required to pay him royalties for using his work. No studio is allowed to just pick up a work and sell it as their own; that's not how it works. Another company tried to make an unauthorized port of Cave Story to the PSP with enhancements and extra content, but Pixel did not give them his consent and they were forced to shut the project down.
Also, the Curly Brace mode hardly has any differences. Only a tiny bit of dialogue. It's disappointing in my opinion.
What did you expect? At least they actually modified the dialog and gave us a new way to play the game. I enjoyed it. I do admit that Cave Story WiiWare has its shortcomings in some places; some of the new music doesn't start right, the initial sound effect volume is a bit loud, and there were a couple typos along the way. But I still enjoyed it every bit as I did when I first played it and I'm more than happy to finally hand Pixel some money for a project that he hasn't seen a cent from for six years. Cave Story WiiWare may not be perfect with its special additions, but at least they tried to give us something extra and, if you just ignore the tiny little technical faults, it's entirely enjoyable and I'm happy to see Cave Story become a real product and become more widespread.
I thought about trying the Nicalis Twitter giveaway until I head the music on cavestory.com's site, and then immediately went out to go buy some Wii points. Is hard mode a three heart run? I'm so glad I bought this game. Edit: Oh man, it is. And no missile launcher either. How am I gonna do the Sacred Grounds in this mode?
i would totally get this if i didnt hate my wii so much and if i couldnt already play the original for free on my computer
She doesn't really die this game has many endings wow very horrible they ruined everything the only thing good is the graphics but that's all
Yeah I know. Just wasn't able to save her myself.

It seems like you would just be better off by saving your 15 bucks and playing it on pc
Damn, the new music sucks. The graphics are kinda... No. Well, old mode :v:
Doesn't switching everything back to the way it was seem kinda dumb? It seems like you would just be better off by saving your 15 bucks and playing it on pc
Then you do that. I didn't say it was wrong.
Doesn't switching everything back to the way it was seem kinda dumb? It seems like you would just be better off by saving your 15 bucks and playing it on pc
Well I would pay for the console version just because I prefer to play this kind of game with a controller (and I don't want to buy a gamepad or whatever I'd need to play on PC) But I've heard that the original music doesn't loop properly. I'm probably still going to buy the game, but I definitely think they did some unnecessarily stupid shit
Everything is Nintendo Hard on Hard Mode. I've spent 32 lives so far fighting the Island Core alone. And I don't particularly like Quote's palette swap per difficulty, but I still love the port.
You can still replicate the effect of playing hard mode by using a save editor or something for the freeware version. Not entirely sure.
The music is a bit hit and miss. I like the Egg Corridor (it's no longer ear rapingly loud) but some of the music (Mimiga Town, Gravity) has been neutered. :(
You can still replicate the effect of playing hard mode by using a save editor or something for the freeware version. Not entirely sure.
I think hard mode just entails never picking up a heart container and never picking up the rocket launcher. So to do it on the PC version, you just have to choose to never pick up the heart containers, and avoid all the rocket upgrade chests, because if you ever miss the first opportunity to get the rocket launcher, you'll find it in the first rocket upgrade chest you open. Though it's actually harder to have the rocket launcher and never use it, because it creates the likelihood that enemies drop rockets instead of energy/health. 'Course most everything in the later levels will be killing you in one hit anyway.
The extra stuff still dosent tempt me to buy it, can play on PC for free and still get a lovely experience from it.

When it says 'Hard Mode", it means it.
First cave story, now toribash, nintendo is really applauding the work of fangames.
Bump, because I just found out that if you rip the wad from your console, you can emulate the game at full speed with Dolphin. Sexy.
