T2 Shrike had neither of these things and was considered perfectly balanced so lol idk.
That's my point. The Shrike in T2 was balanced extremely well. Then they gave the Shrike explosive rounds in Ascend which made it OP as shit, so they nerfed the hell out of the handling and health and now it's just a complete mess of a vehicle with low health, extreme maneuverability (if you know what you're doing), and a ton of damage.
ok today i noticed something extremely, extraordinarly, exta annoying you know when you have that juggernzero constantly mortar spamming your base? well today there was some dude doing the same thing but with the raider thumper used normally the raider thumper will get you exactly 0 kills but this dude was using it for artillery it can fire off 4 shots very quicky and reloads super quickly too and does a huge amount of damage and has a big blast raidus with this dude i saw a tech put up 1 turret and within seconds it was gone
Ugh, I hate it when our team has the flag and so does the enemy. So the light class that has it on our team just hides somewhere in the base with 100 or so hp. I don't know why they don't just give it to a heavier class if they don't plan on skiing around.
Thats not how balance works at all lol. As it stands Soldiers only have the energy pack over techs. Meanwhile techs have -Two aimbot turrets that have 900 health and do 65 damage per shot with no fall-off -Arguably the best grenade avaialble to mediums -An explosive weapon thats comparable to the medium spinfusor -Motion mines that give free wallhacks This is coming from a tech player since December.
Soldiers have higher energy even without the energy pack, so they have a pretty significant advantage there. They also have a repair tool instead of a secondary weapon. Considering the limitations of turrets (easy to kill, low damage, need to go rearm to place more) I think it's fine. Motion mines need to be seriously nerfed though, they make it nigh-impossible for Infiltrators to do their job and are just too easy to use.
The vehicles need more first person.

Juggernaut is fun. And that new match result screen pisses me off, it's like it was saying "Congratulations, you earned 5000 XP this match! Oh no wait, you don't have XP boost... Have 400 instead and go fuck yourself."
As I understood it, the whole inheritance argument is based on whether or not projectiles should go where the crosshair was when they were fired, or whether they should go where the crosshair would be when the projectile actually hits something. Basically, some people can't aim while they're going fast and whine about it.
Inheritance is the effect of weapon projectiles inheriting your velocity when you fire them. If you shoot a disc straight ahead that flies at 200 sanics (from standstill) while you're skiing at 200 sanics, the disc would actually move at 400 sanics. Strafing in Tribes 2 would cause your projectiles to miss at range, because the projectiles would inherit your horizontal velocity. It was a lot harder to aim while moving fast back then.

Funion use your phone as a recorder while you die in games.

[editline]24th February 2012[/editline] gravcycle needs more strafe I mean COME ON it's not like it has wheels
Agreed. The thing can lean left and right, but that does nothing besides look cool.
While I don't think projectile inheritance is a bad thing, I think it's unnecessary. It's a bit hard to aim at someone going 200 sanics one way while you're going 200 sanics another way and projectile inheritance makes it pretty retarded. You pretty much gotta follow him in order to hit him.

Who knows? It might be scary furry porn that will scar you for life, or it may be a gentle poem, or a shock image. Maybe even nudes of Funion. It is a mystery~
You're forgetting that you can get an actual weapon for a secondary, turning the Tech into a better soldier with turrets and shit.
Except then the only thing you have over a Soldier is turrets, while the Soldier has significantly increased energy and/or health which are way more useful outdoors or on offense. This Tech can only drop one turret before needing to scurry back to base to rearm, and cannot even repair a turret if it gets damaged. Outdoors, the Soldier will usually win. Indoors, it's pretty even. If the Tech is defending indoors, he'll probably win. It's balanced, the biggest problem is the motion mine, which is easy to use and extremely effective.
What are best key bindings for ski, jump, surf and every frickin' variation of it them? Also this
Projectiles inheriting player velocity is absolutely awful. I guess it's nice for old tribes players who are used to it but the inconsistency between shots at different angles and speeds is bad for both new players who can't hit anything and veterans who want to have everything down perfect.
And that new match result screen pisses me off, it's like it was saying "Congratulations, you earned 5000 XP this match! Oh no wait, you don't have XP boost...
did they run out? I'm not getting a mail :/
They didn't email me, it was just on the page after I made an account.

Since we're having this discussion on speed inheritance.
I've played Tribes Ascend on and off for the last three or four months and never knew there was a jump key until just now. I always just tapped my jetpack to jump. [sp] I feel stupid [/sp]

Oh, I had no idea that is how the keybinding is setup. I feel less stupid now for not knowing about the independent jump key.
My Key/Mouse bindings: Space: Ski Rightclick: Jump/Jetpack Thumb button 1: Toggle Ski Thumb Button 2: Jetpack Aka: When I want to go fast I just use my thumb. I toggle skiing on, then just move my thumb to my jetpack button. At any point if I need to, I just tap spacebar with my left hand, which stops me from skiing.
i just leave my bindings on default ~pro~
Shift Ski Space Jump Right Jet Too used to hl2 style controls to have space as anything other than jump. Crouching would be neat. Perhaps acting as an airbrake when used in the air/at speed.
I just got the most awesome kill ever on Bella Omega. I was skiing to the enemy flag from behind at 200 sanics. Our flag carrier dies, enemy returns their flag. Their flag carrier is about to capture the flag. He jumps on the flag platform, I approach the platform at 200 sanic speed, I kill the carrier and a forcefield, the flag drops on top of enemy flag, I return our flag and grab the enemy flag and leave at 200 sanic speed. It felt so good.
