What unlocks should I use for the infiltrator aside for the energy update and more sticky mines?

Not sure whether to get AP grenades for Soldier or save up for the Proximity ones and see if they're any good.

The SMG is really capable of killing things, in any situation. It complements the turrets really well. The thumper does far too much damage and techs simply don't deserve to have the best medium weapon in the game. The techie SMG is rather good, I got a lot of kills with it. But then I bought the thumper for lulz and everyone died.

reach if you play pth all the time, otherwise raider brute is shit unless you like suicide rushing and throwing all your fractals

[/QUOTE] Soldier's Spinfusor does the same damage (910) without the arc of the thumper, with the same splash (according to the in-game meters) It's the Tech's primary (and only) weapon, it's got to do some damage, plus it's a medium class. Lower a medium's damage and they'll get destroyed by lights AND heavies.

Secondly, the tech has fucking turrets, so what is the point of playing soldier when the only difference is not having turrets. Finally, the arc on the thumper is not a disadvantage. It makes it much easier to hit people in most circumstances, because it's more likely to hit the ground near your target, instead of sailing past into a wall 10 metres behind. It's only disadvantages are difficulty at long-range and for mid-airs, neither of which matter when defending the base or indoors.
Turrets are pretty much one time use, they'll get a guy first time, but from then on he'll take it out. Moving them doesn't work since you have the "too close to turret" thing.

In either case there are two guns against you.

The Turrets can't move, and can be destroyed fairly easily, and only one can be carried. A Soldier gets substantially more energy, and the raider gets a shield or the scrambler (which renders turrets useless). I'd say that's a fair trade for a defensive class. I'll give you the last one, the arc means nothing in close quarters.

If I'm running back from repairing base defenses and I see my little damage counter going off on my screen I race there, but I already know my turret is gone.

Additionally, like I said, the lack of a secondary weapon doesn't matter anway. Can soldier shoot both his weapons at the same time? No? Then why is someone with one gun entitled to higher dps. Thirdly, it's not as if default tech only gets one gun. The repair tool isn't just crappy filler. It is extremely good, and even without upgrades it makes repairs way faster, which in turn leaves you vulnerable for a shorter time, which means it's good for base defense. Soldiers, brutes, juggs and thumper-techs can kill the turrets in one shot, but the other 5 classes cannot. Turrets are a real pain for pathfinders, since it takes two shots (more than 2 seconds), in which time a turret will nearly kill a pathfinder. Same goes for the other light classes, and even raiders - who have to use [B]two[/B] of their precious arx ammo to destroy them.
The sentinel rifle needs more zoom.
