• Tribes: Ascend v2: I went slow once and it was awful

You act as if I was having fun. As a Capper/Chaser, it was no fun since all they did was surround the carrier with turrets while all of them were either TCN or DMB. It wasn't fun at all. Which was my only problem. I couldn't care less if I get more or less XP.
So I just downloaded this game. It's pretty fun. I like how fast-paced it is. But I have to run it on lower than lowest graphs (fucking with the .ini) to get a decent framerate. It looks so shit. Half the time I can't even read the texts because it's so low res and all. Hell yeah... I hate how they must ruin it though by having XP and shit. Just give us all classes and weapons. Make it fair. Make it more about the game play and less about farming shit. Please? It's also stupid how it takes like 40 seconds between the rounds - and that's minus the loading times. What the fuck!? It's literally faster to just exit the match immediately and rejoin another server. Ah well, my favourite class (of the three I've tried) is that first one. The quick one with that rocket launcher + shotgun.
ehem the spinfusor is not a rocket launcher and how dare you not play juggernaut
Too slow. You are a sitting duck. And yes it's exactly like a rocket launcher: Single, straight, and slow projectile. Detonates on impact. Splash damage. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] Also, Arena is awesome. Best gameplay! And nerf the Thumper DX.
If you want all classes from the start go play Tribes 2, it's free. HiRez needs something to make people want to spend money on the game, otherwise they won't make a profit out of this... Also Juggerfat is everything but a sitting duck if you know how to play with it, there's a reason there's so many people bashing it and saying how OP it is. Personaly i love and rock on it, Juggernaught and Pathtfinder are my 2 class choices, sometimes Doombringer if flag defense is lacking.
Infiltrator or Doombringer (AKA big gun guy)
HiRez needs something to make people want to spend money on the game, otherwise they won't make a profit out of this...
TF2 managed to solve this perfectly without unbalancing anything. Because my current understanding is that there are pure upgrades? Like a character with 1000 game hours will be much better than one with none?
TF2 managed to solve this perfectly without unbalancing anything.
I do not feel this way at all.
TF2 managed to solve this perfectly without unbalancing anything. Because my current understanding is that there are pure upgrades? Either get used to grindin' or grab some gold/a booster and enjoy VIP rates of XP.
even without a booster, the VIP exp gain is great an extra 700 exp from a first win of the day where the round would've regularly only been 300 + FWD's 1200 [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] someone give me music to go fast to, and it isn't protomen or galo sengen
Infiltrator or Doombringer (AKA big gun guy)
In my opinion Infiltrators are too easy to counter and in general needs to extremely carefully pick fights whereas doombringers can just fuck shit up. Note though that doombringers are a defensive class and all their equipment is designed as such. So you shouldn't go doombringer if you don't like defending. However, running around in the enemy base with a minigun and fucking shit up is hilarious.
And nerf the Thumper DX.
Nerf a worse version of the spinfusor with a projectile arc Excuse me?
I get killed by this weapon too much therefore it's OP?
TF2 managed to solve this perfectly without unbalancing anything. Because my current understanding is that there are pure upgrades? Like a character with 1000 game hours will be much better than one with none?
In my opinion there are no pure upgrades (from the classes that i have played, all except Raider and infiltrator). The one that people might call a pure upgrade is the Tech Thumper, but that would be for indoors since i prefer my Tech with the SMG since i rarely miss with it. Mortal has a big blast radius and pretty much kills everyone dead on if you have good aim while the MIRV scatters the damage making it more likely to arm people rather than kill them, however it's great for base harassment and indoor cleaning. Pathfinder Crossbow has more damage but lower fire rate and a firing arc, while the Spinfuser has less damage , higher fire rate and it's easier to master. And so on. HiRez is also changing the guns depending on community feedback. This is just my opinion though and everyone is entitled to their own :)
someone give me music to go fast to, and it isn't protomen or galo sengen
I find most the stuff here is good for going fast. http://stepdub.com/
Proximity grenades suck btw, don't get them.
Anyone knows if doombringer mines also hurt yourself? I often place them at flagstand and stand on the flag and when flies crash into me they explode but I don't really take much damage so I'm not really sure.

I don't often play as Diamond Sword except for when Blood Eagle is full, but holy crap. Lately Diamond Sword wins almost every match I see, and playing with them I've noticed they are cordinated like all hell. They even use the vgs for other things than [VGS], [WGW] and [WGTG]. I think it is because of that all the people who have jumped on the Blood Eagle bandwagon just because everyone else likes them, there are no spots left in the team for the good players so they all go to Diamond Sword.
The only thing I'd like in Tribes is an "Airbrake" that'll drop your speed rapidly to 0. It would be great to fly over at high speed, airbrake and avoid slamming into a wall, forcefield, etc. However you've just reset your speed to 0 and will take whatever fall damage depending on where you are. This'll allow for near 180 turns (Go up a hill, airbrake, turn in new direction and ski) so to compensate you could make it so that using the airbrake stops you using ski again for a couple of seconds. You've added both a pro and a con to using it.

Sneakybear, it looks like your having to much fun. I better call the hitscan heroes and make your day more average. Disc-pistol is so much better then rifle-thumper dx.
Glorious Diamond Sword.
Fuck off sandraker I can't even play and I know you're too slow
Which would be worse to face, a 15 person team of technicians, or a 15 person team of good Sentinels?

I've been wanted to try this game out. Where can I get a beta key?
yeah but with this you could easily be op as your about to sail over the flag and bang, you drop on it, get the flag and llama grab the way out
Then you've got a doom, jugg or brute up your ass and gunning you down since you can't just insta-ski away. Even if you were a path and used a nitron you'd just slam into the ground.
I've been wanted to try this game out. Where can I get a beta key?
It's open beta
Raiders and Brutes in my generator room? Rave party.
Disc-pistol is so much better then rifle-thumper dx.
Agreed. Before I would have said thumper all the way, but I was determined to get proficient with the Spinfusor as my next in-game goal, now after using it for just a few days and getting used to the inheritance of shots and everything, I'm really liking it much more than the thumper. Thumper I still think is better in enclosed spaces, but for everything else, Spinfusor for sure. The best feeling I've had in Tribes now is disc jumping on Katabatic to chase someone who grabbed our flag, catching up and launching just 1 disc, and it somehow flew into his ass mid air, full HP -> Dead in 1 shot. You kinda can't believe you just made that shot, much more rewarding than Sentinel.
