Tribes: Ascend v2: I went slow once and it was awful
This is probably asked regularly but I can't be bothered trying to find a post where it was answered. To anyone who has made an in-game purchase, and received VIP as a result, is it worth it? I've played 50 hours (or at least that's what's recorded in my profile, there may be unrecorded hours since I have been playing since early December/late November 2011, before any profile system was implemented) and I'm only a rank 22 (nearly 23), and I assume ranking up only becomes more and more of a grind as you progress.
The reason I ask is because I have $27 in my bank, however due to my current financial situation this is actually a lot of money to me, so a $10 transaction is a lot also. If I was to essentially "buy" VIP, I would want to to be absolutely worth every cent. So if anyone can help me out by simply telling me if it really is worth it in the long run it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps too.
It's good. Since I got VIP I'm often pleasantly surprised by how much exp I have, even though I don't play much. Like I'll use all my exp on a 42k gadget and I'm shocked when not long after I have another 42k :v:
Tribes is the best multiplayer game ever, I get a massive boner everytime I launch the game.

This is true, I'm playing with my friend Okabe.
Damn doombringers kill all the fun for the classes I play, what especially pisses me off is that most of the time they are just standing on the flagstand.
Also what pisses me off to no end are shirkers, I mean, you go all the way, cap the flag make it out safely and then, bam you are minced meat.
if you wanna counter a dmb you have 2 solid options
be an annoying as fuck jugg who does nothing but mortar the flagstand from a distance
be an annoying as fuck ravegrenade brute who does nothing but skii over to the flagstand and throws a 3+ grenade rave
Too bad, I've only invested exp in light classes. No brute unlocked and no exp spent on jugg.
Sigh.

Well, what I think could also work is spamming sticky bombs as infiltrator on the flag stand on some maps, like Arx Novena.
all my exp has been spent on making juggernaut gayer than ever.
Raider for life.
Partyin' in the enemy gen room.
raiders in enemy gen rooms are wannabe brutes
Brutes aren't actually that good for actual generator destruction.
They can easily clear out the gen room, though.
What's the best way of getting xp?
I've bought a booster and I'm VIP and all I get is scrawny 1000-1500xp a match

Work toward badges you're the most competent at, but don't let that go before being credit to your team.
Losing isn't going to earn you much.
Are there any badges that aren't one time only? I thought demoman was, but sadly no.

All badges apart from the ones listed under one-timers (fall-death and resupply) have the four tiers; bronze, silver, gold and obsidian. Once they hit obsidian, they can't be leveled up any further.

I get like 500-800xp :(
I have no idea what happened but I made a bunch of really fast and successful flag captures (2 in 1 game, 3 in the next) This never happens to me ever, I usually get screwed over by the enemy team having our flag and my team doing nothing about it. I feel great! :v:
although my kdr is never great when im focusing on capping
[sp]1/11 :( [/sp]

also how do i use the jackal properly, im having a hard time understanding it
Just started playing this today, really enjoying it, which class do you guys think I should unlock first?
Raider, or one of the two heavies. We have enough TCN's as is, and Inf/Sen aren't something newbies should try and pick up before learning the game in general.
Are we still doing the 250 gold PAX codes?
I want one :v:

Sentinel is alright for newbies, you stay at the back and defend what you can, and you can learn the basics by watching others while covering them.
Today is a fat day, I'm getting Brute. Perks can wait.
One thing I really love about Tribes is how doing absolutely anything in this game requires focus. Running across a map in Battlefield is tedium incarnate, but just getting around in Tribes is fun and exhilarating.
I know nothing about what the classes roles are or how to play any of them, I can however ski to some degree of skill
Oh god I love playing Sentinel and snipping the flag carrier.
I can now safely say that Fatfinder is a fun class and auto shotgun is amazing.

I wonder why nobody likes the automatic. With two shots and medium close range you can kill a light class and it takes a full clip to kill a heavy.
Still is not truly automatic, I get used to the AA12 from Killing floor.

Pathfinder is for chasing flags or capturing them. You can also harass enemy defence if you're good, but generally this is discouraged.
Infiltrator is basically just spy from tf2, sneak up on enemies and kill them, harass enemy defense.
Sentinel is a sniper, good at killing flag carriers especially.
Technician is defensive, defend your flag and not your gen if you want to be credit to team.
Raider is all about well, raiding. Smash the enemy defences around the flag, or destroy the enemy generator. Not commonly used as such, but it also makes a great defensive class, especially for destroying generator raves.
Soldier is a jack of all trades, play however you like.
Juggernaut is a base raping class, sit at a distance and shell the flag stand with your mortar, use your spinfusor on anyone that gets close. The mortar is tricky to use indoors, but is insanely powerful, so it makes a pretty decent generator destroyer.
Brute is a bit like soldier, play however you like. I mostly use it for getting inside the enemy base and wrecking their defence/generator. Very noob friendly.
Doombringer is all about sitting on your flag and killing anything that comes close. The chaingun is deceptively simple, it takes a fair bit of skill to use well.
(If you want more info just ask, there's also plenty of userguides floating around the net)

Two things:
1)Infiltrator is more like the original spy from team fortress classic.
2) Brute is not noob friendly at all. You spinfusor shots snails , your energy is low and you are slow unlike the soldier who really is a all arround class and the best one to star at this game.
Just played a game and got top of the list and a load of experience..
I appear to be quite good at this :v:
