I guess trying to play Ascend defensively is playing it incorrectly. My mistake. I should have realized that attacking a base needs to be so easy that a half-brained monkey could do it. I'm sorry.
tech with mechanic perk will repair more than brute damage
I know some players are really stupid, but do you really think someone is going to stand there and keep shooting the turret while I repair it? No. Chances are he's probably going to shoot ME while I repair it.
u gotta be really stupid to get hit by a long range disc and die
it is actually easy as fuck to attack the base, it's really one-sided and my bane when I'm playing technician. Say some guy starts blasting a turret with his heavy spinfusor from far in the distance. You have to go out of your way to go over and get him, leaving your flag/gen/whatever you were defending more vulnerable. When you finally get there, you wail on the guy with your smg, hes a fatty of course so it takes fucking ages as he tries to escape. Once he's finally gone, you go all the way back to your base to repair the damage. Within seconds of getting things up and running, the asshole has respawned and sauntered right back where he was and blasts the base again, making the entire exercise futile. It's literally an impossible battle against a dogged attacker, because he has nothing to lose.
Just like anything else, if you're team is good you won't have to handle it yourself. Call it out to someone else and they will take care of it, allowing you to maintain your role as a tech and not run off after some jugg. Or just go soldier or buy a tank yourself and be the guy that is helping everyone else out by defending the perimeter. The problem is that people, including you, aren't willing to switch classes to address the needs of the team. Please tell me how I can be as amazing and wonderful as you.
It's not silent and why was your back turned? Maybe you should pay more attention and not stand still.
My apologizes for not seeing a silent projectile when my back is turned to it. Please tell me how I can be as amazing and wonderful as you.
i really cant understand how u cant spot discs exploding on a turret and not seeing a brute, u playing on low?
Because Ascend boasts a huge ability of movement and enemies can come from anywhere and flank you? What the fuck is with you and insulting me.
press x, go into third person, keep moving around whatever you're repairing, and as soon as you get dinged fly outta there.
u gotta be really stupid to get hit by a long range disc and die
u gotta be really stupid to break down a decent argument into an overly simplified strawman and think it's valid retort
The problem is that people, including you, aren't willing to switch classes to address the needs of the team.
read my next post you dingbat believe it or not I know how to play this game
Capture and Hold is the next best thing to CTF. I finally get to kill some people as pathfinder rather than just going fast.
press x, go into third person, keep moving around whatever you're repairing, and as soon as you get dinged fly outta there.
Yeah, this. You can always dodge a disc coming from far away. We all do it occasionally.
Capture and Hold is the next best thing to CTF. I finally get to kill some people as pathfinder rather than just going fast.
Is just like TDM but fattie friendly.
I have 8 slayer accolades now. I had none before I started playing on the Air Combat Server :v: I had 2 in 1 game earlier, with my only death being a suicide after I got the first to reset my killing spree.
how did you even get into an air combat server they are literally always 28/28 no exceptions
I joined a CaH server and apparently Outskirts is removed. Bummer since I just unlocked Brute and I RAVE EVERYWHERE.
what the hell outskirts is off the CAH rotation? honestly I had more fun on that map than katabatic :(
I'm probably super duper uber late, but I found this and I felt like anyone new needs to see it. I tend to go pathfinder and brute. I typically stay at the base as pathfinder and chase the enemy flag carrier down and in the mean time I thrust around repairing the turrets and such. As brute I play as HoF and repair when the flag is gone or just shoot down the enemy turrets, sometimes clear the enemy flag stand.
what the hell outskirts is off the CAH rotation? honestly I had more fun on that map than katabatic :(
Is funny how one of the guys who complain more about jugger spam can't see the reason behind outskirts getting out of the rotation :v:
a point on outskirts was hilarious.

So I see you guys talking about going bazillions of km/h, but even the pathfinder class tops out at like 170~ Educate a newb on your secrets!
You can make yourself go faster with nitrons or your spinfusor, but I can never manage to go faster than 230 or so consistently. I guess it just takes a lot of skill.
So I see you guys talking about going bazillions of km/h, but even the pathfinder class tops out at like 170~ Educate a newb on your secrets!
Impact nitrons, shooting your spinfusor at your feet, Shrike launching
Shrike launching
I can't make this one, could you explain?
Don't expect it to get any better considering that HiRezBrad thinks that Heavies are underpowered.
Why would you even. That is just ridiculous. A heavy or two takes over your gen room and your not getting it back unless you get half your team in there at once.
Downloaded that FPS config for Tribes, but can't find the Tribes folder with the .ini, can anyone help me out?
So I see you guys talking about going bazillions of km/h, but even the pathfinder class tops out at like 170~ Educate a newb on your secrets!
1. Go on a large hill 2. Jet up 3. Ski down the hill 4. Look behind you and throw a nitron 5. Repeat step 4 6. You should be going at least 200-220
You can make yourself go faster with nitrons or your spinfusor, but I can never manage to go faster than 230 or so consistently. I guess it just takes a lot of skill.
You probably won't be able to go much more than 230 unless you're running a pre-planned route
Quick tip to everyone based on my playing today: Don't just defend the gen. Repair or help repair (Deal with far off heavies) the things the generator is powering. Kinda pointless to run the generator when it isn't running anything in turn.
I've created this. Believe me. I'm spamming every match.
yeah NO
Downloaded that FPS config for Tribes, but can't find the Tribes folder with the .ini, can anyone help me out?
It's in Documents\My Games\Tribes Ascend\TribesGame\Config
Started playing at 120 fov with small weapons, feels nice. Gonna take a bit to get used to things being farther away though.
Awesome idea: every base has a 'force field projector' that when active causes any projectiles traveling within roughly turret range of the base to expire early.
Better yet, make the damn assets shielded like in T2. So they can't be killed by Spinfusors when the Gen is up, just Mortars/Strikes/Tanks.
