Hahaha, I love it when I'm playing a super-serious pro-tactical voice-chatting squad with experienced squad leader on insurgency. No matter how good you are, shit will go down the shitter very fast when you near an active cache. 3 ON OUR LEFT, 5 ON OUR RIGHT, SHOOT THAT TECHNICAL IN FRONT AND REVIVE YOUR WOUNDED MACHINEGUNNER NOW. NOOOW. 4 minutes and 38 dead insurgents later you're still not done shooting.
Are there any good co-op servers since I'm new to this mod and I'd like to get good before hitting up the regular servers.
Finally got everything installed. So, any recommendations as to where to start as someone who is completely new to PR?
There used to be a training server where it was just a blank map with all the vehicles and you could practise in them all with nobody going insane at you, it seems to be gone though. its a shame really it was a very fun server.

Now people moan that no one is able to fly properly and get shouted at on public servers. Although you can recreate the training mode with a few simple text file edits (inside of a zip of course) and host it on a lan with hamachi.

I suppose there is always local games if you want to learn.. I just had the worst squad leader ever and the game turned so boring. i guess the fun really does depend on how well you work as a team.

The PR community does have a problem with coming across as a bunch of elitist fucks who don't want anyone else to be able to play. Although saying that, someone did teach me how to use the mortars on a public server in the middle of a round. As for the bit about the squad leader, it is so true. One day I played like 3 rounds on the CIA server with the same squad and it was some of the most fun I have ever had in PR yet on other occasions a bad squad can ruin the game. I tend to only join squads that either have VOIP in the name or are named after something specific.

Just had a hilarious PR moment. It was insurgency on Lankir Valley or however you spell it, and I was on the German side. My squad and another both climbed into the Huey and asked to be dropped off at the mountains near main, because there was a cache there. We get their no problem, as we're landing, about 10 feet from the ground, a sniper manages to headshot the pilot. Cue madness. The chopper right away starts to fly higher and spin in a circle, whistly sliding to the side, all to the sound of both squads going "WHAT THE FUCK" and screaming "BAIL OUT BAIL OUT" I managed to slam E before we got too high, so I didn't die on impact just went into bleedout mode, so I land on the ground and watch as the helicopter spins and circles and slides all over the place, before crashing into a rock and then bouncing down the mountain. Then as the five of us remaining just stand there and wonder what happened, three squads of insurgents pop out and ambush us. I love PR.

You just join the human side typically and murder bots. Some servers have fast spawning on the vehicles but it's a script so some servers don't.

You could spawn any jet at any time anywhere.
Finally got everything installed. All you need to do is follow orders for that. For vehicles, I jumped on a Co-op server and just fucked around with tanks, APCs, and choppers till I got the hand of it.

The squad that I mentioned a few posts ago was like that, it went from spec ops style attack runs on suspected cache locations to APCs and then acted as a logistics squad setting up FOBs because they were needed. There were a couple of new people in it at one stage and they commented on how it was a good experience.

If you're fighting armor and your LAT or HAT squaddie drops then you have to stop everything you're doing to get that kit if the corpsman can't arrive to help him back to his feet; if the corpsman or SQL is down then you have to stop everything you are doing to get them back on their feet because if you don't then one more small error could be absolutely fatal to your squad. the importance of specific kits is so absolutely important that it's almost impossible to just keep the same one and continually roll with it -- especially once you are experienced and feel obligated to take the most important kits of all that require a lot more strat and capability /tangent
I just played PR for the first time for 6 hours straight. Best Battlefield experience I've had. So much fun with a squad that talks.
Is it just me or can Hueys reach mach 1 in this ?
Is it just me or can Hueys reach mach 1 in this ?
dude YES but actually pretty much every helicopter in the game is so weird. it's like regular bf2 throttling which makes it ultra awkward when using a HOTAS. like, instead of using the throttle to move forwards in fixed wing aircraft, you have to push the axis forwards (what) and once you take off it's all throttle control. Same with the helicopters -- throttle will send you up/down but the axis will send you forwards/backwards and so using a HOTAS to take off is ULTRA SCARY with a helicopter.

also the US vs russian maps are the best hands down other than insurgency if people actually play as insurjens
also the US vs russian maps are the best hands down other than insurgency if people actually play as insurjens
All I used to do on the insurgent maps is be a civilian, with a cell phone out (I forget what it did, IED maybe?) and run around with Mumble saying "Can you hear me now?" near enemy soldiers. I also threw rocks at them, but they had bullets.
How many people still play this? Are there a lot of servers with lot of people?
Is there any bots mode? I simply suck at playing with people, and punkbuster always kick me. And since I don't have a mic, I get kicked out all the time. :saddowns:
How many people still play this? Are there a lot of servers with lot of people?
192 people are on right now. http://www.realitymod.com/prspy/#/servers/viewall/
I'll have to get this then. I'm quite impressed.

[editline]14th February 2011[/editline]
also the US vs russian maps are the best hands down other than insurgency if people actually play as insurjens
The worst part about defending a cache is when some fucktard on your team drives over a mine you placed. TWICE.

Was just chillin with my old squad until my team mob-rushed them and executed me too. [editline]14th February 2011[/editline] I think I may have solved my punkbuster errors but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. My firewall was on "Paranoid mode" and it's been like that for a couple of months if I remember correctly. Hopefully that's what was fucking it up.
also the US vs russian maps are the best hands down other than insurgency if people actually play as insurjens
I prefer the insurgency maps over most.
I prefer the insurgency maps over most.
I would have to agree there. The only INS map I don't really like is Ramiel. Also does anyone know where I can buy just a CD key for BF2? Would like to be able to play in the same server as my brother. Oh, and is it possible to change your CD-Key after installing?

Mainly because I love flying the transport helicopters, like the blackhawk in that map. I find if your insurgency, you spend 20 minutes or so waiting for something to shoot at.
