also the US vs russian maps are the best hands down other than insurgency if people actually play as insurjens
agreeed i'm super fucking bored of the insurgent maps, although they're still fun when the insurgents actually ambush and shit, instead of just hanging out wit the caches
I would have to agree there. The only INS map I don't really like is Ramiel. Also does anyone know where I can buy just a CD key for BF2? Would like to be able to play in the same server as my brother. Oh, and is it possible to change your CD-Key after installing?
Think you're going to need to buy another copy of the game.
I prefer the insurgency maps over most.
insurgency is fun but EVERYONE fights for dear life to play as the good guys. it's ridiculous. you can tell the signs of a good player because they don't mind playing as the opfor. I like the military vs military maps because that problem is far less frequent -- everything is pretty evenly balanced, but the second you go on insurgency maps it feels like everyone is climbing over eachother to play as the USMC or whoever the good guys are because apparently it's not as fun trying to come up with amazingly well-placed ambushes this has always been my experience and it's kind of upsetting because insurgents never get a chance because they're outnumbered by ten marines and a bradley.
So now all of a sudden me and my brother both CTD every time we try to join a server. Anyone ever have this problem?
insurgency is shit as main forces, opfor where it at
I like BLUFOR, but OPFOR is pretty fun too

Most get frustrated and die a lot because they refuse or can't adapt to playing as an insurgent, which is different to playing as say, USMC, and rightly so. If you stick around in a drawn out firefight, they are going to get fire superiority and then you get dead. It's just mind boggling to me that even new players know the name of the game when playing as insurgents is "hit and run" yet everyone tries to have a stand up fight with the coalition team??? Some of my best rounds on Insurgency were when I'd set up hasty Ambushes with my team and when we made contact we'd fire off a metric shit ton of ammo at the enemy, and then get the fuck out before they could really start to return fire. Sometimes we might only kill one or two, but multiply that by repeated ambushes all over the place and damaging vehicles and we'd end up with a stack of kills, little to no deaths, and a very few lost caches.
Is it just me or can Hueys reach mach 1 in this ?
if you are refering to the speed displayed in game, its horribly wrong (For example the landing speed of an A10 is something like 600mph in PR :| ) [editline]15th February 2011[/editline]
If you stick around in a drawn out firefight, they are going to get fire superiority and then you get dead. It's just mind boggling to me that even new players know the name of the game when playing as insurgents is "hit and run" yet everyone tries to have a stand up fight with the coalition team???
This is so true, it even makes it boring for the blufor team when the insurgents try to play as a conventional army. Some of my favorite rounds of insurgency have been played as the blufor while the insurgents have been trying every insurgency trick in the book to get us. I spend a lot of time playing on the CIA Kokan server and the one thing I have really noticed is that the insurgents seem to completely ignore the weapons they have their disposal (Mainly IEDs). Seriously, on a map like Kokan where the blufor spend most of their time driving between compounds you would expect the roads to be littered with IEDs and people lying in ambush, but I have only ever seen a handful of IEDs on that map. Although a couple of nights ago I was playing and the insurgent team were almost playing "properly", and I discovered the awesome diversion tactic that works well on Kokan. I joined a squad that was defending the VCP (the place where the APC spawns), which is really pointless but most of the enemy spent the entire round trying to attack it (but it was so heavily fortified they could not get within 500m of it) while the rest of the US side ran around destroying caches with little resistance.
The problem with insurgency maps I find, is that the insurgents can only spawn at caches and the main at the start of the round. There used to be a lot more buggery when they were able to spawn in any sector within the first 2 minutes or whatever it was. Now the Blufor side is already in a good position to prevent ambushes by the time the sappers have got to where they want to set up, and this is accentuated by the addition of armour which is basically massive area denial as the insurgents see it. Also, disabling my firewall didn't fix my punkbullshit. However I just installed Wolf:ET which also uses punkbuster, and it works fine. Should I try reinstalling America's Army? If that works after reinstall then it's pretty obvious BF2/2142 will as well, but I can't be arsed going through all the updates and shit again. Fuck it i'll do it.
I like it when we had insurgents waiting on rooftops for a group of the marines to come by. That was fucking ~dope.
i don't think there should be any tanks in any Insurgency maps and i really don't think there should be APCs or Tanks in Al Basrah
i don't think there should be any tanks in any Insurgency maps and i really don't think there should be APCs or Tanks in Al Basrah
Tank's aren't so bad in insurgency on city maps because they can be ambushed with ease. Same with APCs. I mean really built up city's though, so like Fallujah for example. But on maps where the cache's could spawn (and usually do) in small compound's outside of built up areas where an APC or tank can just roll up to it and kill everything in sight it is massive overkill IMO. The people I usually play with go from everyone working fine to one person not being able to stay in any server to someone only being able to join one server. Usually when they follow the guide it starts working again, makes no sense what so ever why it stops working. Punkbuster is a pile of shit, I can't believe any (new) game actually uses it. I have seen more cheating in games with PB than I have in games with other anti cheat and have had endless problems with it (For example I wanted to see what all the fuss about AA was so I installed it, can't join any server due to PB)
speaking of Fallujah, had the best APC squad ever, we grab the Bradley and the AAV and took out the first cache through a window, hunted down Gary and the SPG techie, and transported/supported the infantry we ended up winning the match with 508 tickets left, one the gunners got like 68 kills and 0 deaths, and we only lost 1 APC which was the LAV (due to cockiness near the end) [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] that's only the second time in all my years of playing PR where i have gone an entire match without dieing while still being useful to my team, first time was on Ramiel as the Littlebird pilot

Be honest, were there only 5 insurgents?
no it was 32v32 the other team sucked honestly, i was playing on the CIA Kokan and Hookers server and like 4 games in a row our team won by ridiculous amounts, 238 tickets first Fallujah, all 7 caches still alive on Kokan, then 508 tickets left, and then once again we had 4 caches up on Kokan [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] well on the last game it was down to around 20v20 but i think some more people joined later on, was kind of a boring match
RKG-3 AT grenades > your fucking hummer Seriously I lost count of how many successful throws I had with those god-tier nades. They double as an effective contact grenade too.
Someone should make a "lets play" thread for some time today, ide definitely be there. this game is fun with complete strangers so im guessing it would be awesome with Facepunch. the serious members anyway.
Most of the fun I've had with PR has been in Insurgency - A couple for your amusement. Imagine the scene, Falluja west playing collaborator with CloakRaider looking to sneak about and grab some US kits from the buildings around the gateway. After some close calls with hands up etc. we make it to one of the three story buildings near the gate and proceed to the top floor to watch the outcome of the fighting. Suddenly cloak swings round with a look of pure pixelated terror in his beardy one eye screwed shut hands up face. We faced two US riflemen sprinting at us from the roof access with restrainers out, they reach me first and due to the somewhat temperamental melee system manage to dodge their clumsy swipes, However in doing so I have put myself out of reach of the exit - thinking nothing of my own life (other than the 3 min respawn) I run to the edge and hurl myself into the abyss. Luckily by the grace of Allah I land of some kind of dumpster completely unharmed despite the 3 story fall, in the background cloak is howling with laughter so I move round the building to see what had become of him during my daring escape. Essentially whilst I had been engaged in deadly flail combat with the two US soldiers he had thrown his grapple off the edge of the building and made to slide to safety - with me supposedly dead they chased him to the rope and slid down after him, Cloak thinking quickly had pressed G to retract his grapple and the two US soldiers had fallen the 3 stories to their deaths. The second tale of insurgent hilarity is much shorter, when driving around in the Hajji car with the music blaring, we managed to kill a few US troops with our wild fire from the sunroof. However whilst moving at high speed down a narrow street a single poor collaborator pulled out in front of us in his motorbike. We caught a split second of the pure terror on his face (Both the regular terror you get from trying to be on the bike when merely you are a conduit for the bikes will) and the fact he was 0.1 seconds from a horrible death. We hit him at such speed his bike exploded throwing his broken body into the distance. Much fun to be had in this game.

I'll give it a try though. [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] Well I reinstalled AA3 and that fixed PB errors with it. I'll try what that guide says before I reinstall BF [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] Yay, I fixed it :D
I love playing as collaborator on insurgency. Just chillin out on the rooftops and laughing at the enemy Humvees and tanks for not being allowed to shoot at me. Also that way I can easily reveal enemy positions and suggest ambush points.
I want to see an insurgent car full of Collaborators. I also want to see the respawn penalty of the blufor who blows up the entire thing.
If you kill a collaborator in a vehicle there is no penalty.
If you kill a collaborator in a vehicle there is no penalty.
My dream is ruined. :smith:
I think you can kill a civ in and 60 seconds after they exit a vehicle.

One time a squad full of collaborators piled into the back of a bomb-less Gary so there was the 5 civis + the driver. Well being on the Britain side we didn't know that so I told my gunner (we were in an APC on Basrah) to unload...

i challenge your civie mob with this: 3:37 is the best part
Urgh, just after I fixed it yesterday I'm getting no packet flow errors again. Fuuuck re-fixed it again
