I tried getting into this mod, I bared through trying to get the damn thing to work on the steam version of BF2. So that's one thing. Next thing the only servers were really high ping and a lot of the players were not very helpful and mostly elitist assholes. I tried blending in, following my squad and stuff, trying to remember the keybinds. After like 15 minutes of walking around we finally fucking found an enemy and we shot him in the face, then out of nowhere we get raped by gunfire that came from somewhere. Then I was just like "fuck it" and quit. At least I can say I tried, but I do not enjoy these "simulations" or "realgasim" fps games. Only one that I enjoyed was RO and that was because the game was at least not so hard to figure out. FPS games shouldn't have a steep learning curve IMO.

For the most part, the game is super easy in terms of gruntwork like you were doing. Follow your squad leader around and do as he tells you. They usually make it relatively easy enough. You were probably just playing with a terrible squad that had no communication going on whatsoever. A squad of people with the incentive to play and the ability to communicate to eachother and other squads can ROCK even if they have no idea about any military concepts. It all boils down to common sense and communication. The great thing about PR is that it's a "social game:" you don't really need to be GOOD at anything to be good at the game. For example, you can be like me and be probably the worst shot in the game, but that doesn't stop you from spotting everything that moves, giving orders and doing other social activities like reviving people, providing suppressive fire with the AR, etc.
There's no learning curve to playing no. Learning how to play as a grunt effectively if a different story. For most players, especially those uninitiated to similar games/tactical genre, there is quite a learning curve.
Not much of a challenge for me, really. But I guess I went off what I learned from my years in Armed Assault and ArmA 2. I actually enjoy having to learn how to play a game, rather than the games you can just pick up and play.

I'm not a troubleshooter for PR for BF2, nor do I work for the BF version , but I may be able to get your problem solved faster than you wish. I do read you solved your issue, but I haven't, perhaps the information from your experience can help me out with my problem as well. edit: i thought I had posted in a PR thread, must of been another. Regardless, I'm an R-CON for the upcoming PR: Arma 2, not that you guys care , but if you have any questions you have with PR: Arma 2 then i'm willing to answer them to my ability

Does this require the disc for BF2 to run?
I used to play it. I redownloaded the mod just recently, haven't installed it.
ArmA 2 PR will rape BF2 PR.
ArmA 2 PR will rape BF2 PR.
Too bad ARMA 2 won't stop crashing on my computer all of the sudden, and I can't find a fix.
Getting new pc, might get it tomorrow and play
Too bad ARMA 2 won't stop crashing on my computer all of the sudden, and I can't find a fix.
Re-installing it should work, just back up your addons. [editline]21st January 2011[/editline] On that note, fucking BMPs rape me.
We have a group of people who play it, we usually have around 5-6 people in a squad. Add me on steam if you want our vent details and you can come play with a decent squad for a change. Honestly, if you are interested just add me, we're a great bunch and you'll get on fine.

[editline]21st January 2011[/editline] On that note, fucking BMPs rape me.
I don't have addons, and I reinstalled twice. I updated drivers, lowered settings, etc. and finally just said fuck it and uninstalled it. My computer is more than capable of running it too.
Are you using a legit copy?
Yea I bought it from steam. [editline]21st January 2011[/editline] What it does is I'll play for maybe 5-20 minutes, then it will go to a black screen, then goes to desktop (game is still running, I can hear sounds when I run or shoot) but I just can't go back into the game, if that makes sense. I just see my desktop, and need to force quit.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] You are screwed.
Is it shit from steam or something?
I bought my ArmA 2 CO from steam, shit runs perfectly.
[img_thumb]http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/4981/screen010m.jpg[/img_thumb] Rushing after the JDAM.
There's no JDAM on Fallujah West... [img_thumb]http://yourimg.in/j/m5i89v.png[/img_thumb] JDAM on Kokan.
Is it shit from steam or something?
Because of steam the source engine broke on my computer, I assume it would do the same for ArmA 2. Try getting CO and see if that fixes the problem. Its either steam or a hardware problem.
I haven't had any problems with Steam interfering with any of my games. Most of my friends have ArmA 2 from Steam as well, no problems there. It's most likely something wrong with the hardware. Not going to rule Steam completely out of the problem, but I'm seriously doubting that's the issue. Try running the executable from the directory without Steam, see if you get the same issues. 'Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\arma2.exe'
Will do guys, thanks for the info.

But technically it is a JDAM strapped into the truck. Soo....
Fine... the Gary that killed half our squad. But technically it is a JDAM strapped into the truck. Soo....
Still not equal, Gary has two 250LB bombs, a JDAM is one 2,000LB bomb.
Fine... the Gary that killed half our squad. But technically it is a JDAM strapped into the truck. Soo....
Gary explosion is nowhere near the size of the JDAM
Yay, another milestone for the PR team. They achieved 128 slots with 8 people per squads. Ive been playing for the last day or so and it has most of the bugs ironed out. The only problem is half of the teams nametags do not appear and the chat scrolls way to fast.
