How can you fail at the training level? There's some Thermoptic Camo on a desk that esentially turns you INVISIBLE during that bit. Yeah, it only does it for a few seconds, but that's more than enough to bypass the guards.
I fucking sucked at Deus Ex :v: It was fun though.

The person in the picture is a cheater. That gear on the first level? yeah sure
I'm sorry but you are so wrong. Deus ex is the one of the best RPG's I've ever played. And you do realize that the game is old? and that it was a massive achievement for its time? Combat was awesome, inventory was awesome, atmosphere was fucking awesome, I hope you know that it was in development way before matrix was even thought up.
Your opinion isn't correct either. Just because he doesn't like the game and you do that doesn't mean that you're right. I'm sure a lot of people like World of Warcraft, I hate that game. And I'm sure many people like COD4, I also hate that game. In fact, I hate all of the Call of Duty's (multiplayer, at least). I hate Counter Strike Source, I hate Half Life 2, I hate Left 4 Dead. Just because ya'll like them dusn't mean you're right.
Ah yeah, no matter how much i tried to like Deus ex, it just didn't appeal to me. There are older games that still have much better combat and A.I like unreal tournament.
Ah yeah, no matter how much i tried to like Deus ex, it just didn't appeal to me. There are older games that still have much better combat and A.I like unreal tournament.
I thought the point of Deus Ex was that you are atrocious at combat.
GEP Gun > All can't open a door? gep gun. can't pick a lock? gep gun. hostage situation? gep gun.
Makes me laugh that you get a choice between the GEP Gun, Crossbow and Sniper at the start. And you find a crossbow on a body about 30 seconds after that.
I thought the point of Deus Ex was that you are atrocious at combat.
The stealth is somewhat broken too. It's like a really bad mix between unreal tournament and thief without having neither of the game's good traits. And copying a little bit of matrix.
I thought the point of Deus Ex was that you are atrocious at combat.
behold i am jc denton trained killer and am able to survive a rocket to the face except i am the worlds worst shot what a shame
THIS SUCKS WHY DOESN'T MY HEALTH RECHARGE WHEN I TAKE COVER is what you get when stupid people play Deus ex just face it this game is for pros and you don't like it cos you suck at it and are used to the stealth system in Oblivion
behold i am jc denton trained killer and am able to survive a rocket to the face except i am the worlds worst shot what a shame
basically.
The stealth is somewhat broken too. It's like a really bad mix between unreal tournament and thief without having neither of the game's good traits. If you goddamn say it's the fucking trench coats I'm going to find out where you live an punch you in the fucking face.
If you goddamn say it's the fucking trench coats I'm going to find out where you live an punch you in the fucking face.
What a rotten way to die
Also, what do you people mean when you say the stealth system is bad? I have absolutely no problems with it.

Didn't watch the matrix movie fully. [editline]01:26PM[/editline] Also if you want to fight me, we can meet in the international boxing tournament if you participate in boxing, that is.
Neither of them have super human strength, and Neo isn't emotionless at all.
Neither of them have super human strength, and Neo isn't emotionless at all.
Emotionaless AKA not able to smile and such [editline]01:30PM[/editline] JC does feel emotions but he can't express them Except for the A bomb! part.
I recommend you watch the Matrix again, he has tons of emotion.
I recommend you watch the Matrix again, he has tons of emotion.
Really? I think you understand that i'm talking about when neo enters cyberspace (or whatever can't remember)
Really? I think you understand that i'm talking about when neo enters cyberspace (or whatever can't remember)
You mean when he enters The Matrix, as in, the place the movie is named after? He has emotions until around the end of the movie, where he just becomes determined.
I thought the point of Deus Ex was that you are atrocious at combat.
No that's stupid. Have any of you guys even played the fucking game. You know that there's weapon skills for a reason, if you level them up, you get better. Gasp. What a surprise.
I know it has done a lot to the gaming genre, but god this game is so boring
This game has done nothing for gaming. System Shock 2 did, Deus Ex just ripped that shit off (and did a pretty bad job of it too). Not that I liked System Shock 2 either, but it was better than Deus Ex, and it was first so...
I think a lot of the people who didn't like the game were just put off by the difficulty, honestly. A lot of games used to be like this, until developers started to realize that the majority of gamers don't want a challenge anymore, they just want a quick game.
Though that is possible, it doesn't explain the old school gamers who think this game is a pile of shit. You play through Thief and then you play through Deus Ex, and you realize something interesting: Thief is hard because of the planning and skill necessary. Deus Ex is hard because the gameplay mechanics for both stealth and combat suck dick. Difficulty brought on by shitty design is not the same as designed difficulty.
THIS SUCKS WHY DOESN'T MY HEALTH RECHARGE WHEN I TAKE COVER is what you get when stupid people play Deus ex just face it this game is for pros and you don't like it cos you suck at it and are used to the stealth system in Oblivion
Sorry dude, I beat Deus Ex and I was blown away by how bad the fucking game is. This game has suffered the same effect as FF7, where people nostalgia so hard they forget the game isn't as good as they think it is. The AI was weak, guns didn't work properly, melee was crazy OP, stealth often didn't work, the RPG aspect of the game was mostly arbitrary bullshit that didn't make any actual difference in gameplay, and the game had no multiplayer. As opposed to SS2, which did all of these things and did them better, despite coming out before it. Again, Deus Ex is hard because the engine sucks dick, not because there is actual player skill required.
No that's stupid. Have any of you guys even played the fucking game. What a surprise.
So is there any reason in particular why, when my gun skills are mastered, I still shoot up the whole fucking wall with almost any gun instead of hitting the target? The skills don't mean dick, you still suck total balls at any and all combat (unless you're a dragon tooth faggot, then by all means, you can be a stealthy glowing cyborg ninja. Unfortunately, because the game we're talking about is Deus Ex, that is not nearly as cool as it sounds. tl;dr people are either nostalgia'ing so hard they make this game good, or they are newfags trying to seem cool by liking a "classic". This game is not a classic, it's a piece of shit. Play Thief or Fallout or Homeworld, games that didn't suck dick.
People using the, "You just suck at the game" argument are stupid, I suck at playing hitman yet I think it's 10x better than Deus ex.
This thread makes me sad. Casuals are ruining FP.

"Skills don't mean dick" Uh, on Master with the stealth pistol you could pull off headshots better than with a sniper rifle. "RPG aspect made no difference in gameplay" Yeah, since you're obviously not gonna run out of lockpicks and omnitools without upgrading the two skills. Yes, some skills were pretty useless like Computers which should never be raised above level 2, and Swimming since, well, rebreathers are common and there isn't much swimming in the game. Funny how you say that this game is a piece of shit, when it has received practically zero bad reviews and pretty much everyone seems to acknowledge it as a great piece of gaming. Thief is a great game, SS2 is an awesome game, the first two Fallouts are on my top 10 favorite games list alongside Homeworld which I have sitting on a place of honor right on top of my left speaker.
Why have I not heard of this?
Funny how you say that this game is a piece of shit, when it has received practically zero bad reviews and pretty much everyone seems to acknowledge it as a great piece of gaming.
The same could be said about Halo, which recieved all around fantastic reviews, but everyone says it's overrated. Deus Ex falls into the same trap, where a game gets blown so out of proportion that it's either the BEST GAME EVER or YOU'RE AN IDIOT. Starcraft also falls into this trap, as well as Final Fantasy 7, Ocarina of Time, and Counter-Strike. Not all of these examples are bad games, but they do not deserve the amount of credit they get regardless.

Nostalgia doesn't come into it, I picked up DX a year back and I liked it as much as the next DX fan.
