I'm so broke that i can't even afford this game. At one point the island was referred to a kidney stone and throughout the whole thing I couldn't stop thinking I was walking around a kidney stone in a sea of piss.
is there a way without cheating to go into the light house.
Yes. Go to the circular room and look up.
The Dear Esther devs are working with the Amnesia devs.
fuck
Are you freaking kidding me? Wow, something else I hadn't seen in two play-throughs. Looks like I'll be going through it a third time tomorrow. I got my review up for it earlier today. Hint: I absolutely loved this game. This is some of the finest work I've ever experienced.
It's kind of possible with modding though.
True. However... It can be used on first person ONLY on Alien Swarm - Source, and even then with modifying the code (a lot).
Was it just me, or does something dark flicker past the window in the lighthouse building when you try looking in from outside?
Was it just me, or does something dark flicker past the window in the lighthouse building when you try looking in from outside?
Guess it's one of those dark hooded guys again like the images shown above
1:49, lower right wow
50% off on Steam, Dear Esther, a new hardcore tire-melting track racing experience! Choose your racer; Donnelly and his pimped-out Syphilismobile, Jakobson and his goat-towed turboplow, Esther and her trusty wrecked hatchback, or the Narrator, able to walk at 1 MPH and hurl kidney stones at enemies! Featuring three pulse-raising race tracks around the island's hills, caves, and beaches! Complete them all to unlock the Hermit and his bottomless boat!
Was it just me, or does something dark flicker past the window in the lighthouse building when you try looking in from outside?
I hadn't seen it at the lighthouse but the ghosts do move. The one on the cliffside to the left of the ship wreck? You can actually see the whisps of it as it "runs" from left to right to the edge and into sharper view.
1:49, lower right wow
That reminds me, Cry of Fear is out pretty soon, and it look's like a kick ass RTS!
The OST is now available on Spotify.
Guess it's one of those dark hooded guys again like the images shown above
Yes, according to console there's two ghosts in the lighthouse.
The OST is now available on Spotify.
Damn. Even the soundtrack, without any gameplay or visuals to aid it, is still rather chilling. That's impressive.
Playing my first playthrough, and recording it and rendering 8 min videos as I go. Saw a ghost move past the windows inside the first house, as someone pointed out. Hopefully it'll show up in Youtube's rendering. If you look around on the beach close to the cliff you can find some car tires and other car parts. You can also hear a car revving its engine when you get close to the largest tombstone in the graveyard. When you go underwater near the beach everything becomes very dark and sounds begin to pulsate very quickly. There is also a flash of light when you look up to the surface while submerged and you can see what looks like a silhouette of power lines. I attempted to capture this in my recording and again I hope it shows up on Youtube when I post it. edit: oh and no ghost in the lighthouse stairwell for me. But when I left the house my character crouched automatically to dodge a bird that flew overhead (out of the house?) I never saw that in any of the playthroughs I've watched so far.
Apparently my friend saw another one of those ghosts (possibly the hermit) in the cave behind the sheepfarm across the cliff. I havent seen this, can anyone confirm it?

amnesia reference much?
Good to know people are still stealing my videos.
Good to know people are still stealing my videos.
It's not the only one. :v:
So, I'm a tad bit confused. How long was the narrator on the island for? I'm getting the idea that he had fled to it immediately after the [sp]car accident that killed Esther[/sp], but there's paint in the caves, when he said that he had never been through it before. Is the narrator just unreliable, or am I missing something?

He never makes it clear exactly what his role was in [sp]the accident[/sp], and goes on incoherent tangents that may or may not be metaphors for something. I'm pretty sure he'd already been through the caves, as there's one line that mentions [sp]he used Donneley's map to navigate the island, and filled in the parts that Donneley didn't explore[/sp], and in fact he may have been on the island for some time.
I've got my code to work on 2007 too. I can mount the Dear Esther content and put dynamic lighting into the map but it would be kind of pointless since there's nothing that really needs dynamic lighting in there
When the hell are you releasing said code for the public.

A lot of the monologues change to referencing feeling like he's been doing things once before or multiple times before. [sp]The island is not real or is a collective unconscious/afterworld if there really were other people on that island. The main character, however, has not moved on and makes his trip around and through the island several times trying to figure out where his life went wrong and why. He needs to pass those kidney stones and let go.[/sp]
So this will sound like a fairly odd question, but is it in any way possible to run the dear esther maps in portal 2? I've been trying, but I either get it so the maps wont load, or they do load, but I can't get the portal gun. Again, odd request, but I like doing this sort of thing, putting different maps in the play with portals on.
I still dont know if this game is worth while from a equal amount of likes and dislikes
I still dont know if this game is worth while from a equal amount of likes and dislikes
Get it if you appreciate a work of art Don't get it if you're expecting gameplay beyond pressing ASWD
It was definitely worth the money for me, I'm not sure about how everyone else feels
