No more fucking expansions for SMALL/TINY UPDATES :c
I really only pirate games that I either; 1. Don't think I'll like and want to test 2. Can't buy in shops (Old games) 3. I don't want to help the company by paying Company is a large factor in what I pirate, if anything. If I respect a company I won't pirate one of their games (Valve for example)
Same for me: THQ and Relic deserve their money for the dawn of war series, company of heroes and some more Valve goes thesame for ... well... all of it... EA deserves to be pirated (yea, i still blame myself for buying spore).
Owning the game would stop me from pirating it. Unless i lost it ofcourse!
A lot cheaper. a new game costs somewhere between £25 (valve games on steam) to like £35/£40 (retail games, non-valve and non-indie games on steam) I don't mind buying the £25 games (usually valve's) because most of the time I know that they're going to be quality £15-£25 is the optimal price to me. edit: also no drm, apart from steam
I'll probably never ever pirate again the day they find a legal reason to close swedish thepiratebay.
the nazis, they would stop me pirating XD lmao (User was permabanned for this post ("gimmick" - Spork-Juct))
death
Lower prices, no need to always insert a disk to play, no DRM bullshit, no software other than the game, if it's singleplayer let me play offline. Yeah that's all I can think of. EDIT: OPTIMIZATION! My god I hate it when I get a game and it's a poorly ported piece of shit. EDIT2: You do realize that there's piracy in consoles too right?
Seriously, the Wii is so easy to pirate games for right now. I think the Xbox is pretty easy, too.
the nazis, they would stop me pirating XD lmao
You bumped this to say THAT?
Bigger and better demos. Try before you buy is the only reason I've ever pirated. And maybe an easier purchase system, just like steam. That's right, I've pirated games because I've been too lazy to get off my ass and go to the shops and buy them.
Cheaper games and more demos. Remember when games used to be much cheaper? Battlefield 1943 is around $20 I think. Prototype is $70, and it doesn't even look as great.
If they'd stop making shitty games that you can beat in 8 hours and expecting $59.99+ for them. The last straw for me was when I rushed out to buy Assassin's Creed and ended up returning that piece of shit within two days.
I don't think piracy makes as big of a dent as people say it does. 95% of people who do pirate wouldn't buy the game anyway. Anyway on topic, most people pirate games because of DRM and SecuROMs shit malware. Companies are taking the wrong approach to piracy by trying to stop people from even doing it. Instead companies need to give us a reason not pirate a game.
Make games last more than 6 fucking hours. And if by chance you manage to make a good game (re: cod4) don't be a fucking dick about it (re: modern warfare 2...60 dollars)
Releasing a Demo of the FINISHED game would stop me from downloading them to find out how they run/work beforehand 50 bucks, plus tax... The better half of a Hundred dollar bill is a hefty chunk of change
I don't pirate video-games, I think the money necessary for the devs in order to continue developing games. Also, better sales>more money>bigger budget for next game>better game
this is what they should do $39.99 $ NA 15.99 Euro 13.99 ( UK ) [editline]01:13AM[/editline]
I don't pirate video-games, I think the money necessary for the devs in order to continue developing games. Also, better sales>more money>bigger budget for next game>better game
Dead Space was worth $39.99 I felt that earnd to ask 49.99 for it also is'nt Europe really bad with piracy since they ask about $100 for games over there ?
Nothing would stop me from pirating. I do not feel that any game or piece of software I have ever used is worth my money. They are only worth the time it takes me to download them. Make software that I feel is worth money (like Soundspectrum's G-Force, which I actually do plan to buy), and maybe I'll buy it.
Me getting a job.
I take issue with the whole "lower price" arguement in that we already have problems with the devaluing of digital media. Unfortunately some things don't get cheaper when you devalue them, they simply don't get made. Big game developers just move to consoles when piracy gets bad. Small developers just die. I know with Introversion, despite being very nice when it comes to piracy and DRM, has had all their games pirated like crazy, and it's already gotten to the point where if Darwinia+ for the Xbox doesn't do well then they'll probably go under. Quite frankly, for every one person who has a legitimate reason to pirate a game, there are a hundred parasites who will ruin things anyway.
