Replayability or playtime. I would have paid $50 for gmod as i've played it for so long, same with TS2, CS:S. Oblivion was worth $50, played it for ages.
But if i don't know what the game is like or how long i'll play it, not worth my money. This is a problem with most handheld games, they aren't even worth the $30. Plus if a game doesn't have a demo i'm probably not gonna buy it, or i should at least play it at a friend's house. I didn't buy L4D because the demo sucked and the game is mediocre.
I just think 99% of all games that come out are crap. They won't last longer than a few months at most anyway.
Its sad when the longest lasting game I have right now is Mount and Blade. I still play that thing and I got it when it was like .6 or something.
So in the end, like others have been saying, I torrent games like a demo. If they are really good than I definitely buy it and everyone I know does the same thing.
I believe that piracy sells more because its like free advertisement.
A contract that forces all games companies in now and future to NEVER AGAIN pull a Spore.
Jesus christ how I regret buying it. SO DAMN MUCH.
How many people pirate battlefield and play online?
Exactly. Why can't they do that with every game.
I can't play it online, i bought it.
It's an annoying, glitchy piece of shit.
Lucky you, its £50 here.
Name one PC game that's cost £50 upon release.
Usually in the UK they're about £35 at most, usually about £25.
I also think releasing their games with shit software like Punkbuster effects sales too. I won't be buying newer Battlefield games because of it. I probably wont anyways.
Stop releasing shitty games so we won't waste our money
add a bunch of subtle ads.
like in hl2, make the soda cans say pepsi on them.
Lower Prices. Games for 20-30 dollars I would buy. You know how much stuff you can buy with 60 dollars? I could probably make a cheap potato cannon with that. I could go out to eat with 3 people at a pretty good restaurant with that. It's a lot of freaking money for a piece of plastic with information on it, even if it's good information.
Yeah, I can no longer justify spending $50 on a single player game.
I'd really like to play FEAR 2 and the new Prince of Persia. But they're single player games, and once I finish, I'll probably never play them again.
Crysis Warhead for $30 was a much better deal.
FEAR 2 is multiplayer...
free games
add a bunch of subtle ads.

They already have "subtle ads" (i.e Midnight club:LA has a Sidekick and Actual advertisements on the billboards)
pirating hurts the economy lol
multiplayer that was worth it, devs i care about (for example, i've purchased all of the VALVe games I own). oh and if it's a bitch to get working if it's pirated, i'd rather just buy it.
Demos, if I had lots of money, better developers, developers actually FUCKING LISTEN.
I don't pirate, but demos would help a lot. There will still be pirates though.
Paying such an obscene amount for (often although not always) less than 10 hours of game time is crazy.
You do get some games worth paying for, and I'll gladly buy them. The annoying thing is when they charge you so much money for a piece of shit.
Even so, I still by a lot of games (I pirate 10x more but thats not the point). The thing that REALLY bugs me is the price of editign programs and Windows. Photoshop is a ridiculous price, as are most OS's.
Steam.
Haven't pirated anything in a long time thanks to it.
pirating hurts the economy lol
Like our economy isn't bad enough already.
I don't think a game not being good enough justifies pirating it. How would you like it if you spent years developing a game, only to have everyone pirate it out of some misplaced sense of entitlement.
Like our economy isn't bad enough already.
uhhh, that's why people should be spending money on games and stuff
Better demo's would certainly help.
For instance, I was thinking about pirating Empire: Total War, but then I realized there was a demo on steam, so I got the demo, played the game, and realized that it was okay, but I knew I wouldn't really play it ever again.
Cheaper and better games.
Just the price down or a bargain deal ala The Orange Box or the whole Valve Package. I don't care if it's shit or great, the price is all that matters.
Demos also help deciding.
By making demos that last a certain amount of time to see if you like the game or not. Like the Fear 2 demo.
This. For every game, even stuff like GTA IV.
I really only pirate games that I either;
1. Don't think I'll like and want to test
2. Can't buy in shops (Old games)
3. I don't want to help the company by paying
Company is a large factor in what I pirate, if anything. If I respect a company I won't pirate one of their games (Valve for example)
Not all developer's agree with the company heads. They all do their job because they need to make a living.
I really hate the don't support the company argument, people work hard too for money you know.
demos + non-generic, new ideas. no more old boring fpses. storylines aren't enough
We just need more trials and demos, that's it to convince people, don't pirate the game if you're just gonna call it shit, that's not how it works.
$100 is just ridiculous.
I feel this pain ;--;
