I never really caught on C&C Generals to be honest. Think I got my hands on the game a bit too late.
The only good with the games released after RA2 is Kane.

yeah , you do have to edit unit strings
and unlike TibSun , the cameo already had the unit name , so you had to either have awful looking icons or make one using photoshop

Yeah that too! Its like they went a bit backwards with the modding capabilities, as in Tibsun I remember you could have multiple campaigns as it gave a list, so you could have mod campaigns with the original campaigns. But in RA2 they made it so you either stuck with the default campaigns, or modified them instead.

Oh man, RA1 is so much fun especially editing the .ini files.
Reduccing all those buildings,units costs so it's much easier to build. Increasing the powerplants a bit for more power. The most fun part is that i've managed to edit the MIG plane into a Badger bomber that will drop 5 nuclear bombs, or the allieds that has einsteins with armed weapons like vulcan guns + turrets.
Flamethrowers from soviet that have more powerful flameball than normal. Changing the APC passengers seat to 10/5. Or using the Queens ant (from aftermath) to protect your base!
So much fun! I still play it sometimes!
