ps3 jailbreaking is unreliable and not worth the effort imo. i dont want to go into to much detail here because the mods have a hardon for piracy but things like the payloads that spoof 3.50 dont work and more what is more annoying breaks usb connectivity between the device your using and a pc
I thought the 3.42 firmware blocked these from working?
Once an open downgrader comes out, I'll give this a try. I'm just kinda pissed off that PSJailbreak tries to make huge profit off this by not open-sourcing or helping the community - it sorta goes against the whole principle of opening your system up. I could understand the lust for profit if they were making controller stands, but this just seems a little unethical.

I'm speaking in terms of exclusivity, not making money from hardware - keeping the downgrade code exclusive for $50+ seems a little dickish

I still don't understand how you got this for free. The way you said this makes it seem like you were specifically [i]trying[/i] to get one for free, but what are the odds they would accidentally put one in an order? Surely it would be cheaper and easier to just order one?
Everyone who buys one of these for $99 is an idiot. Identical, programmable hardware is $15.

You can use the PS3 as a fairly effective media centre on the default OS. But having a homebrew option could unlock the use of more codecs, right now it doesn't support a great amount.

Well, good news for you, me and everyone that updated their PS3s to 3.5! Firmware 3.5 has been jailbroken by Team X3! Now, we wait for its release, as well as a free alternative.
