Conviction? Splinter Cell died after Double Agent, reaching it's climax before with Chaos Theory.
No, it died after Chaos Theory.
Fun Games.
Shooters with a health bar instead of the regenerating shit, and transport tycoons. Quake and Locomotion, we miss you!
Car combat games unfortunately. I would love a new interstate '76.
Adventure Games. Only teltale makes them nowadays. Oh and cRPGs like Fallout 1 and 2.
PC game
http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/games-of-2010/ Yep, sure is almost dead.
[img_thumb]http://www.nerdyoldwarriors.com/uploads/KinectDanceCentral.gif[/img_thumb] ?
Not that Kinect Shit.
Turned Based Strategy (See Silent Storm)
Civilization would be TBS, that's more like TBT.
First person shooters that have their PEGI tag enforced.
No, it died after Chaos Theory.
i dont think it will be for to long. I think they Splinter Cell makes greate Singleplayer games but for a multiplayer they will have to bring what they did in Singleplayer aswell as feed the "Rambo" gamers racing games can come back if say Road Rash came back or derby games like Twisted Metal was explored more
Racing? Are you serious? I'm still fond of racing games.
Quality games.
Rougelikes. With the exception of the Mystery Dungeon series, there are actually none anymore. And that's terrible.
First Person Shooters. I mean there's only like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor.. wait.
God games. Like Black and White.
Medieval games, and no not like magic and bullshit stuff like that. I mean like swords, axes, bows, etc. Newest one I can think of is Mount and Blade: War band. All those lose out to all these modern FPSs which have been done almost as much as WWII has.
Turn based games like worms. Would like to see a worms revival for computer come out.
Actually original games made by big developers. Everything seems to be the same now :frown:
RTS games that have base building/research. Several RTS games that have came out recently haven't had base building at all - e.g C&C4, DoW2
although it never really went anywhere in the first place, the few 'rts/fps' games were really fun.
Battlezone. Anyone here that hasn`t played this has missed out the greatest game and concept ever to have been devised.
good rts's... i miss red alert ..
good rts's... i miss red alert ..
Last good RTS i can think of that had everything - research, buildings, abilities, unit ranks etc was RA3.
Actually original games made by big developers. Everything seems to be the same now :frown:
Yep, many developers copy 'popular' games with the hope that it'll sell just as good :sigh:
Stealth like Janus said and good horror games. Monsters jumping out of small areas does not classify as a good horror game.
True, I haven't seen a good stealth game ever since MGS and Splinter Cell, what is up with that? And WHY THE FUCK must horror games and zombie games be soo shitty nowadays? Zombie games went from the RE 1,2,3 slow walking durrrr saying bloody scary zombies to L4Ds infected that run as fast as you, don't scare you for shit, and even throw stuff at you (RE4 onwards). The gameplay is also easier. Not that its bad, because its pretty good, but it just makes the game alot easier, hence less scarier. They should bring back RE.
3D Platformers, besides Mario Galaxy 2 I can't think of any good recent ones. I want a remake of Jak and Daxter, that game was perfect in so many ways.
Yep, many developers copy 'popular' games with the hope that it'll sell just as good :sigh:
Not all developers do this, you have the developers who come up with new and innovative ideas like... ...um... ...Maybe you are right.
Remember those old shooters? Nothing like these current day "tacticool gunz" shooters with the gritty graphics and pansy girly "regenerating health" The good old shooters like unreal tournament, where if someone shot you with a rocket launcher, you turn around and sent one right back at the bastard. Games where you ran people over in cars and watched as they dissembled into their composite parts and someone over the tannoy would announce very loudly that A: you did so and B: it was awesome. Where the guns would be anything from bog standard pistols to whopping great photon annihilators with everything conceivable in between. These days a game will rub some military hardware in your face that's covered with dust and say "look how cool and realistic it is! It's the best gun ever!" or as, Yatzee quite rightly put it just, show you some shiny asult rifle with some kind of attachent and say "PWOOOAH" I miss the old shooters where you could carry every gun in the game with you and it wasn't about who was a high enough level to have said cool guns but more about who found them or who knew how use these guns correctly. Remember in the old UT games where people would use anything from the flak cannon to the shock rifle to the lightning gun. The game was quick, over the top and the gore was so excessive that it was borderline stupid and impossible to take seriously. And most importantly of all... score could got to shit, it was about how much fun you had in the middle.
I know what you mean. Today, the only kind of arcadey style multiplayer FPS I can find is Halo.
I know what you mean. Today, the only kind of arcadey style multiplayer FPS I can find is Halo.
You have unreal tournament, but that is just only multiplayer.
Stealth games are so freaking tense. The tensest part is right when you get discovered and you need to make that decision of silencing the guy or hiding. or reloading your last save
Apparently the Cities series is pretty good, you can make some really detailed and intricate metropolises. http://store.steampowered.com/app/58510/
it's just not the same one of the things that actually made SimCity fun was destroying your cities with various disasters, both real and very not real. this doesn't look as fun
