Pokemon Red engine.
Go die.
I'd say DMM was a waste of time (albeit not a full engine but meh)
It's pretty much implemented in minor stuff that you're usually too busy playing the game to actually notice, the only real thing that it's used on that you would notice are the doors that you have to open now and again, which could easily have been done via scripting and multi stage damage models rather than an entire material engine.
Yeah, I know what you mean about DMM, when those early Force Unleashed videos came out, it was super impressive, but when it was actually in the game I'd ooh and aah a bit on the first level what with the trees and that, but then I just forgot about it.

Yeah okay let's just stop developing technologies because they may not be used yet :downs:
Well I for one am tired of, atleast in the source engine, breaking a box with my crowbar and seeing 3 splinters as all that's left over. I'd say DMM is a great idea, TFU just wasn't the game for it
UE was okay for UT games. It's not okay for like 30 shit games made by devs who couldn't be bothered making an engine for their own series of games. Instead we take the UE smack it into our generic shooter game. Now don't get me wrong. The UE engine is fantastic for shooter games like Gears of War,but for the love of god, every game that uses this engine has the same stupid characteristics over it. I NEVER rate a game that uses a premade engine for their games over 4 out of 10.
I agree that unmodded UE3 is good for nothing but deathmatch shooters. But saying every game done with it is bad just because of their use of perfectly fine engine is daft. It's far more flexible than you might think but you have to do some serious modding. But it's still quicker than making your own engine which I assume is some kind of holy grail to you.
Or was Mass Effect just another generic UT3 clone? Or Bioshock? Mortal Kombat 8? Earth no more? Don't think so.
Big rigs: over the road racing
How the fuck is Fallout not a classic?

Well it is kinda buggy and very very tedious especially when you keep missing a rat 1 FOOT AWAY FROM YOUR FACE
[editline]04:58PM[/editline]
What?
You know that most Unreal games are incredibly difficult to tell apart right? Almost no other engine is that modifiable. Splinter-Cell, Mirror's Edge, Rainbow Six, Deus Ex, X-COM: Enforcer, Red Orchestra, SWAT 4, Army of Two, BioShock.
I bet you you didn't even know a lot of these games were Unreal Engine, and they are very much different across the board.
I have to say the Bioshock UE edit has to be the best engine i've played for something that goodlooking, brilliantly playing, AND with such a massively good story. though the letdown is the EETSY BEETSY TEENSY WEPON amount, however the alternate ammo's make up for that.
[editline]05:01PM[/editline]
Might i add bioshock is probably the most stable game i've ever played in the history of my life
Might i add bioshock is probably the most stable game i've ever played in the history of my life
I agree with you there, it runs perfectly fine on medium high on my ancient computer.

Sorry but you're really really dumb, go die.
You have no understanding in games, play with dolls or something instead.

Nvidia invented AA adn then they perfected it, so i think they know a little bit more about it than you do ATI.

No, he's a relative one.
The Renderware engine

(excluding the early 3d GTAs)
Pff, hell no. Crackdown used it, and it just so happens that Crackdown was one of the first games ever to get Cel-shading right. Mix that with the amazing optimization of the engine along with the physics engine (ie. being able to blow up 100 cars at the same time and get like a 5FPS drop.) Can't do that in GTA4.
No, he's a relative one.
But if DMM gets more standardized in a huge middle-ware engine like Unreal, that could be good.

Yeah, Burnout was such a shit game.
We've yet to seen PC footage so you can't just judge yet.
You have really bad reading comprehension don't you.
The ones for La-Mulana and Cave story.
They were never used again.
Yeah Source have it's faults but it's the one of the best Engines IMO.

Source II

JUST CAUSE ENGINE
beautiful and could be modified to fuck seeing as it's freeroam but it's by ubisoft so no :l
Prototype engine, doesn't have potential.
Goldsource. :smug:
CryEngine 3.
Making games look worse is advancing an engine, when you already have the most graphically advanced engine in gaming?
It is advancing the engine. Name one game on home consoles that look as good as the early previews of CryEngine 3. For console use it looks to be really amazing, like they're past iterations have been.
Although, that's not to say it's not entirely disappointing that they're doing this to us PC users. :ohdear:
Gamebyro, good god its awful.
I found it:

So there we are, there is some iD Tech 2 in the Source Engine!
Actually no, there's alot of code used from the Id tech engine. The most important being the original BSP technology.

Also for all of you who think source is a complete waste of time, try rendering 1,000+ physicalised crates with out lag in another engine.

That's not even Source. That's Havok.
Project Offset
When and if it releases, no one and I mean no one can run this.

Real Virtuality Engine 3.0
ArmA II uses it. Great game, but worst optimisation ever.
Pretty much any engine that has no window mode option is a waste
halo3 engine is the waste because they wont port it to the PC
The first half of your post is 100% bullshit, what the hell do you really need windowed mode for? Can't you just print out your pussy cheat codes? The second half though, that part is 100% pure truth. Imagine a super-modded forge mode. With terrain deformation or something awesome like that.
