Real Virtuality Engine 3.0
ArmA II uses it. Great game, but worst optimisation ever.
The engine made me not buy the game, lagged like fuck on high, couldn't see shit on low.

They look the same.
They look the same.
O.o they look totally different, how does UT3 look the same as Mirror's Edge?
And how does HL2 look the same as Zeno Clash?
P.S. Here have a box.
Compare Mabinogi Heroes and Half Life 2: Deathmatch, if you can say that they look the same and mean it, I will promise that I will give you a hundred boxes.
[editline]06:56PM[/editline]
Somehow.
The walls do look very similar.
And I bet they ragdoll the same.

Too bad i can't give away more than 1 box.

Why would you compare those two games?

you move from ignorant to just plain retarded. enjoy your boxes.
Any damn engine that is not moddable.
Why would you compare those two games?
Same engine, albeit that Mabinogi Heroes version of source is probably modified.
Graphics aren't always determined on the engine. I don't see why people say that UE3 seems too shiny. I mean look at Mirror's edge. Does it look shiny to you? This picture is also in UE3:

Does it look like complete shiny crap? No. It depends on the developers on if they perhaps want a shiny game or a non shiny game, not the engine. If anyone wants to know where I got the TF2 model in UE3 the link is here:

Augh the aliasing.
Most recognisable feature of UE3.
Also particle effects.

Particle effects are fine in UE3. Most people can't run anti-aliasing in UE3 since it uses a Defferred renderer which allows an infinite number of light sources.
The modified Gamebryo used for FO3. It was good in Oblivion, but Fallout should have been more high-tech.

I never said the particle effects were bad, just distinctive. Also on consoles there's no anti-aliasing so soft textures like wool or hair look like they're made of noise.
Just about every 2D engine in existance, none of them get re-used.

Yeah but civilian heavy already looked like that in TF2.
Pretty much any engine that has no window mode option is a waste
halo3 engine is the waste because they wont port it to the PC
They will, probably by '10 time. They have a trend of porting their games to PC when their releasing a new game.
Please explain.
what ever the fuck rune scape runs on. terrible graphics and load times

Java, and runescape is an amazing achievement for a browser based engine.
Gamebryo for sure.

Hahahha no.
Not only is deferred* lighting not spelled that way, that's also not what it does. And Anti-Aliasing works absolutely fine on anything above a Geforce 8.

I don't think a lot of people understand what they are talking about when they talk about game engines. It's not ALWAYS about the graphics. People who are saying "Oh UE3 sucks it's normal maps look very weird and unrealistic" or "UE3 looks like everything is covered in plastic" are wrong. It is up to the developer on how they want the game to look visually, NOT the engine. Hearing people say this gives me the idea that most people base their opinion on the graphics and not the engine itself.

This is a picture of Unreal tournament 3 which does look like it is covered in plastic AND is using the Unreal 3 engine

This is a picture of America's Army 3 which looks quite the opposite of what Unreal Tournament 3 looks like BUT it uses the same engine which is the Unreal 3 engine.

This is a picture of Mirror's Edge which looks completely different from both of the games above and guess what, it is using the Unreal 3 engine.
So I hope you have learned that game engines don't DETERMINE how a game will visually look but rather the developers who determine how a game will look. Game engines are basically a base for developers to build on what they deem is necessary.

Are you running Directx 10? I'm on XP with my 8800GT and I can't enable AA on UT3 or GOW.
Their graphics look the same even if it's not the same colour scheme you can tell a source and a UE game.
That's the case with Source, UE3 however is much more shader-friendly and can modify the looks and feel much more. Take Mortal Kombat 8 vs. Mirror's Edge. They both used UE3.
