Hmm thats odd, the only files I've got in there are

I've seen a bunch of complaints about the irrigation system.
To those people: that's the way it originally worked in non-3D-layered Dwarf Fortress. Get used to it, because it's back and it's going to stay.

Did you know that Ost means cheese in Danish?
Also, about the allnighter, I won't join, but are you using some sort of Skype or teamspeak? I'd love to join that for a while.
I'd love to join the all-nighter, though I won't be there all night. I just need an invite to the group and some info on the voice-chat stuff.

Vent :)
So what do you need to do to make a bit of land farmable now
Water it.
so has anyone got a df2010 dfterm set up.
Apparently our ISP makes it difficult to.
Will this be like a continuous stream? Or simply you guys communicating while playing your own fortresses?
iPope's Guide to Basic Military
---------------------------------------------
I am assuming at this point you have a basic fortress set up with at least a decent amount of wood and a carpenter.
To start of you will want to carve a room out using a miner and build a few beds in the room. Use q->r to turn one of the bed's into a bedroom and then use the + and - keys to resize until it fills the whole room. Then press B to turn this into a barracks.
Press the m key and you will be presented with an overview of the military structure in your fortress. Here is a quick overview of what each section shows you:
p - Positions
This will show you your current squads and allow you to put people in these squads
a - Alerts
Alerts are an advanced feature in which you can set up alerts which can be activated and military dwarves will follow orders in the alert. This includes patrols, stationing and protecting Burrows.
e - Equip
This is the core to having a successful military. In this screen you can equip dwarves with weaponry and designate them a uniform.
n - Uniforms
This allows you to create a uniform for your soldiers, letting you select material, colour, weapons and armour. This is quite complicated and will be examined in more detail later on.
u - Supplies
Here you can set how much food and water each squad carries, fairly self-explanatory.
f - Ammunition
Here you can set what munitions your squads should carry, e.g hunters should carry arrows.
s - Schedule
This is where you can set the training and active duty schedule for your squads. You can assign orders for each month. Orders include train, patrol, station, defend burrow.
In this tutorial I will look at Positions, Equip, Uniforms andbriefly the Schedule.
Let's set up a uniform for your first squad, which they can use while they train. First you will want your carpenter to create roughly 5 training swords and 5 wooden shields. Open up the uniform menu by pressing n, or if the Military screen is not open press m->n.
Now press c, you will see in the main window that a new uniform has appeared called Uniform X. Press N to rename it to "Training". Press the right arrow to scroll to 3 list, this where you can add items to your uniform. If you look at the top window you will notice that currently Armour is selected. Press W to show weapons, then scroll to Training Sword and press enter. If you made a mistake you can remove an item by going to the middle list and pressing enter on that item.
It's time to add our shield to our uniform, do this by pressing S to access the sheild menu then adding a shield to our uniform by pressing enter. You will notice that it just says "shield" in the uniform, however we made wooden shields! If you have metal shields in your fortress they would collect those, but we want to reserve those for on duty soldiers. Press M to enter material selection menu. You can scroll the current item in your uniform. Scroll to shield and select wood from the 3rd menu, press enter. Well done, you have made your uniform!
It's time to form our squad, press p to access the Positions menu. Now press l to create a new squad. A box will pop up asking you to choose a uniform, select the uniform we just created. Now go to the second menu. You will notice the first entry says "1. Vacant", this is because this will be your military commander, as it is your first squad. Go to the third menu and select a few dwarves to be in your squad.
Now go to the schedule using s. You can select months here and edit orders. You will notice they are all currently train. Go to the first month and press e to edit the order. Now use the + and - to decrease the number of dwarves required to train to 1. Press SHIFT+ENTER to go back to the schedule. Use the c key and the p key to copy and paste this order in to every month. Press esc to exit.
Go to your barracks and watch your soldiers, you will notice they do not spar. This is because the training system has been re-done. If you press v and view a dwarf you will notice, 1. His profession has not changed and 2. He is doing a "Individual Training Drill". This just means he is practising. Occasional a dwarf will organise a demonstration, and other dwarves watching will receive skill. Click i to view the dwarf's inventory and you will notice that equiped is a shield and sword.

Thanks, this really helped me out.
Seriously, hunting is just not working with my game.
I assigned a guy to hunting and all he does is stand around with "no job". I even gave him a crossbow.

He is even carrying it around, but the tasty deer outside my fortress remain untouched. This happened with my last fortress too.
