I hope they fix the bugs in the new version soon. Losing is fun, but not when its to random crap that makes no sense like acid rain.
As soon as the OpenGL version is released I'm going to put together an installer for all those people who hate downloading and extracting a zip. (Last one was broken, working on fixing that)
The Anikki 10x10 square tileset works for me.
I hear the inability to plant in soil layers without irrigation is a bug. [editline]09:43AM[/editline]
I hope they fix the bugs in the new version soon. Voice Chat is still up! We might not be doing an allnighter, but we can sure as hell still have fun! Teamspeak 3.0 Adress: server2.lego399.dk Port: 9987 Channel: Crunchy Crundle (Or whatever dwarvenly I feel like changing it to) Password for channel: dwarf
Acid rain could be fun in a certain way if it only affected dwarves, so you would have to dig deep and create underground forests and shit so you won't melt. Then again aboveground forts would be impossible, you'd have to play as a human to do that. Carp are easy to avoid, rain on the other hand isn't if you embarked in a rain forest. Then you're fucked.
Why do you guys find this game so appealing?
Why do you find X game appealing?
It's a question.
Why do you guys find this game so appealing?
I think we need to put in the OP a 50 paragraph story about why this game is awesome.
It's a question.
Nicely spotted! My answer is a rhetorical question. You answer it to get the answer to your own question.
I have some dorfs in a hospital zone, with the chief medical dorf set to ONLY healthcare labors. He still has "No Job", and the injured dorfs need to be treated. What is the matter?
Why do you guys find this game so appealing?
Because we like original games that are full of win. Even when they are equally full of bugs
Nicely spotted! My answer is a rhetorical question. You answer it to get the answer.
It isn't.
Because we like original games that are full of win. Even when they are equally full of bugs
Not for long though.
Why don't you go make a thread about your hate for this game?
To answer your question, I don't know why I like it. But I spend hours at a time on it, so I must like it for some reason.
It's a question.
Because it's hugely detailed, massively deep and people like you are seemingly possess too short of an attention span to play it, so we don't have 'tards ruining everything.
Why don't you go make a thread about your hate for this game?
Because I wanna know why you guys like it so much. It's basically an RPG in text form with somewhat decent ASCI graphics but I'm wondering why it appeals to you all.

And it's great fun. It's the only one of its kind.
It's an immensely detailed game, plus it's a huge sandbox where you can make your fort in any way you want. And it's great fun.
Thank you.

[editline]04:21PM[/editline] And in what other game can you strangulate a baby, and then throw said baby at the mother, with such a force that she explodes into gore?
Thank you.
And it has the most detailed combat system and healthcare system I've seen in any game.
Because I wanna know why you guys like it so much. It's basically an RPG in text form with somewhat decent ASCI graphics but I'm wondering why it appeals to you all.
Not a RPG, more like a Dungeon Keeper-ish fortress simulator.
I've just noticed something. When I first played DF, I couldn't get used to the ascii so I went for dystopian rhetoric. Downloaded the new version and when straight into using the ascii without any trouble. My conclusion: Tilesets are good for training your eyes, it doesn't make them lazy. Although I think it helped that DR doesn't change things too much
I call it an apocalyptic simulator. Everything you do to make it go right always makes it go wrong.
Apparently my lag problem is because I have a cavern route to the HFS, which made it spawn a finch devil who is now desperately trying to clean itself, resulting in it doing pathfinding across the entire cavern system every few seconds to find some water.
food.
Toady finally released a new version?
Awesome. And to think all this time I thought Toady was taking a break from updating DF
